Because Trump is only one symptom of the deeper, underlying problem, Democrats and democrats better start thinking about how to stop the next one, who, unless they repealed the Law of Regression to the Mean, will be far more intelligent, controlled, and in charge than Trump was, because Trump couldn't have been any less intelligent, controlled, and in charge. What if the next guy *doesn't* say the quiet parts out loud?

I've seen clips of that movie but I have never seen it. From what Ive seen it looks realistically terrifying. That's kind of why I have never seen it. It was enough to see the clip of the boy having the gun held to his head.

I thought you were going to say Das Boot.

But I could never pick the best or even the top ten. Too many good ones. And they're still making good ones. Dunkirk and Inglorious Bastards for example.

I was sick to my stomach election night thinking Trump would be president again. I don't like feeling that way, so I'm not happy if they feel that way.

I've noticed that on Facebook too. Fortunately there hasn't been too much political discussion but what I've seen has made me bite my tongue several times. However, that was before the last couple days.

Now those people are conspicuously silent. (Not counting those few I had to block.) I'm not going to chase after or gloat. But I have done a couple Likes on some clever memes...

Indeed. I am enjoying the moment of MAGA types gnashing their teeth and rending their garments, but I suspect the next 2-4 years will be very critical for the future of the country.

There has to be an alternative to fascism for our current situation in this country or we are going to find ourselves back into a dangerous situation again, and the next proto-fascist leader likely will be more intelligent and disciplined than Trump.

Okay we all get the "Trump isn't the disease he's a symptom" thing.

But here's the thing. Treating a disease is a lot easier after you get rid of the big, major symptoms that are causing the most damage and pain.

And besides the whole "Symptom/disease" metaphor isn't perfect because the "symptoms" in politics aren't passive.

Cancer cells aren't trolling the libs or seeing how much they can get away with.

But there's a sizable section of Trump supporters that actually really liked that he said those things. Will they still vote R, or with they stay at home with a "regular" republican running in 2024? I don't know.

Sure. Getting Trump out was a major prerequisite to addressing the issue. We are going to be in a much better position to make positive change because of that.

My concern is that a large portion the liberal population will consider it a job well done and go back to brunch. The underlying conditions that lead to Trumpism remain intact. This must be addressed, and soon.

I always preferred Das Boot.
If I'm allowed to mention non-WWII movies, Run Lola Run is also a favourite. In fact, I think Das Boot and Lola Rennt are my two favourite movies.

I swear Trump overuses the word “radical” so much it’s a homeopathic dilution at this point.

They are all on their way to PA, GA, NV and MI to make sure the counting is being carried out properly.
