Don't some other states allow late arrival of ballots if postmarked in time? Seems they don't see some invisible clause in the Constitution forbidding this.
Each state determines how they vote. The only constraint is that valid votes are cast on or before the election date.
The supreme court is used to determine a ruling based on that states laws and if it is in some violation of the constitution. That means different states get different rulings based on what they have as their laws. But that ruling would apply to all the states if the same situation was present.
California allows all votes counted if post marked on or before Nov. 3, other states do things differently.
That was my understanding but a lawyer in here may chime in to correct me.
