Watching the debate tonight?

I have so little interest in seeing the VP debate, compared to the last one. I'm only curious about how it's going to be set up, and maybe the opening statements.

I expect a lot of one-word Tweets from The PDJT. Stuff like "WOW!", "GOTCHA!", "ZING!", "GREAT!", "INCREDIBLE!" with no reference.

Why would the moderator break into the debate between the VP and the VP candidate to discuss Trump's tweets? That would be assinine.
Yeah, the debate is between the VPs. Trump and Biden have no role in it. Trump will have to endure a couple hours on the sidelines, probably to his immense irritation.

Trump's going to nuke Denmark because he can't stand that the attention isn't on him.

I fully expect him to be tweeting during the debate.

I fully expect him to be tweeting pretty much any time of day or night, so that is just a given.

I also expect him to be tweeting more (even more, perhaps, than he did during his own debate) because it will be a time when the nation's attention isn't on him, and he can't stand that.

I’m excited for the vice presidential debates because it’ll test a pet theory
of mine.

I noticed during the 1992 debates that the Vice Presidential candidates
didn’t perform as well as the Presidential candidates. Do you really think
Johnson made a better President than Kennedy? Or Ford a better President
than Nixon?

After the 2000 election I learned that the Vice President gets sequestered
in an ultra secure environment. An odd thing. It’s like leaving Johnny Carson
wandering in wide open field while protecting Ed McMahon behind impenetrable
walls of steel. Do second bananas say or do such embarrassing things they
cannot go out into the world?

Surely our adversaries have spies who report such things back to their leaders.

And then I got it. A actual game of 3D chess carried out on a global political
scale. If our adversaries thought about removing the President they then
must consider who will become President and this stops them in their tracks.

P. S. God forbid the parties ever get the Vice President and President ticket backwards. :)

P. P. S. Anyway, I expect Kamala Harris and Mike Pence will roll out on the
debate stage in electric wheel chairs like Steven Hawkins and when they
respond to the moderator they’ll make unintelligible whale like sounds.

I absolutely believe LBJ was a better President than JFK. Check LBJ's legislative accomplishments.

Finally 2020 catches up with 1960: The Second Presidential Debate will be VIRTUAL.

Commission announces that 2nd presidential debate, a town hall, will have candidates participating from separate remote locations.

Town meeting participants and moderator @SteveScully will be at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County.

ETA:

Of course, FOX is already in CT-territory:

Fox's Rachel Campos-Duffy says the Trump campaign should press for "some sort of rules" to make sure that Joe Biden doesn't use the virtual format of the second debate to cheat, "because we've seen some things before with teleprompters that are pretty sketchy."

the teleprompter thing is likely a reference to eric trump and others claiming that biden read answers from a teleprompter in a telemundo interview, which of course is not what happened. lies on top of lies on top of lies

ETA 2: :D

“I’m not going to do a virtual debate,” Trump says on Fox Business. https://twitter.com/jeneps/status/1314174535609057281

Trump has apparently declared he'll be sitting out the debate, allegedly because the video format is "unacceptable" to him.

I hope he really does sit it out :D .

He'll change his mind 10 times before the debate. Who knows which side he'll finally land on.

Statement by the Trump campaign:
“President Trump won the first debate despite a terrible and biased moderator in Chris Wallace, and everybody knows it. For the swamp creatures at the Presidential Debate Commission to now rush to Joe Biden’s defense by unilaterally canceling an in-person debate is pathetic. That’s not what debates are about or how they’re done. Here are the facts: President Trump will have posted multiple negative tests prior to the debate, so there is no need for this unilateral declaration. The safety of all involved can easily be achieved without canceling a chance for voters to see both candidates go head to head. We’ll pass on this sad excuse to bail out Joe Biden and do a rally instead.”

- Bill Stepien, Trump 2020 campaign manager

(bolding mine)

Three observations:
1) That Trump will have posted multiple negative tests prior to the debate, is not a fact. We don't even know when he last had a negative test.
2) Biden doesn't need to be bailed out.
3) A rally?

Fun fact: as of now, both Trump and Stepien have COVID.

ETA: same point 1), better formulation:
Trump’s campaign manager, who is one of many aides who caught COVID, would like everyone to trust that the president, who caught COVID and kept having events when he had it, will safely do an event when he is tested negative, when the president has not been releasing tests

The problem with the CT is that Biden would agree in a second.

"Would Biden agree to being isolated in a secure area?"
"Yes"

Meanwhile, the reason Trump has declined is because "the moderator can cut you off at any point"

Hey, a virtual format is great! You can say, "You have 2 minutes to respond" and give them exactly 2 minutes while the other person is muted. Both candidates will be subject to that restriction.

One candidate has a problem with that. The other would be fine.

Trump's response, "That's not what debates are about." in declining a virtual option. Very telling. His version of debate is about bullying.

It's fine. If Trump doesn't want to do it, Biden can debate the Libertarian candidate instead. Who are they running this year? Did they dust off Gary Johnson again?

After his performances in 2016, and his behaviour as President, was that ever in doubt in any way ?

Would the networks cover that debate or would they feel compelled to cover the President Trump rally instead to report on all the crazy things he does or says ?

I don't think it would come to that. As soon as someone tells Trump they're having the party without him he'll whine his way back in the door.
