Speaking on Fox & Friends Trump confirmed that in 2017 he supported assassinating Syrian President Bashar al-Assad, but the move was opposed by then-Defense Secretary Jim Mattis.
Trump previously denied wanting to assassinate al-Assad after it was reported by journalist Bob Woodward in his 2018 book.

At the time Trump said. "Not at all. The book is fiction. I heard somewhere where they said the assassination of President Assad by the United States. Never even discussed. It was never even contemplated."

HISTORIC day for PEACE in the Middle East — I am welcoming leaders from Israel, the United Arab Emirates, and the Kingdom of Bahrain to the White House to sign landmark deals that no one thought was possible. MORE countries to follow!

Once again, those countries aren't at war with each other. This isn't like Carter with Egypt and Israel at Camp David here. Egypt and Israel were still technically at war. Carter got the two sides to negotiate a peace agreement that ended hostilities. Trump secured a tenuous deal to normalize relations. I say tenuous because Israel thinks they agreed to pause annexation on the West Bank and UAE understood it would stop and that the agreement depended on complete cessation. I expect annexation to resume late in the first week of November.

I'm assuming this is an attempt to either get the Nobel Peace Prize or score a foreign policy win before the election. Since no fighting stopped and the deal has already turned into an obvious attempt to sell fighter jets, this won't go very far towards any sort of peace prize. That and let's face it, The world has a political and diplomatic class. These are sober, well educated people with an appreciation for complexity (though an inability to understand how little control they have over events) and that class will never admit Trump as a member. The Peace Prize would mean acceptance and that will never happen.

As for the election, that's nice, can we talk about unemployment and the corona virus now?

The International Business Times was kind enough to offer “It is not clear if the president was speaking figuratively or meant trees explode in a literal sense.

And some say looking at the original quote is not helpful

Trump said:
“When trees fall down after a short period of time, about 18 months, they become very dry, they become really like a match stick and they get up you know there's no more water pouring through and they become very, very they just explode. They can explode. Also leaves. When you have years of leaves, dried leaves on the ground it just sets it up. It's really a fuel for a fire. So they have to do something about it,"

Remember, it's Joe Biden who can't speak coherently.

agreed. He should address unemployment and covid. But Congress should also not be on a 1.5 month vacation with no relief bill in sight. Perhaps they could come up with something to help protect those affected by COVID. We most likely won't see anything until AFTER the election because **** Trump while millions of people suffer just for some political maneuvering.

To add

Regardless you have to admit that the Arab nations recognizing Israeli sovereignty is a big deal. Israelis can finally travel to foreign Arab nations and vice versa. If you don't think that's a good thing and a step in the right direction then I don't know what to say. A lot of our political maneuvering in the middle east is for profit, but also as a deterrent to keep Israel from getting gang banged by all the Arab nations

We can beat them at their game #PedoBiden

Vile. Just vile. I am just disgusted that this pig should be in the WH and that so many Americans support him. They should be ashamed of themselves. But they're not. And what that says about them.....

I am imagining a world where a president never tweets. And if they do tweet, that they don’t retweet. And if they do retweet, they don’t retweet conspiracy theories. And if they do retweet conspiracies, they at least retweet them from humans and not Russian bots.

And just in general, that their communications to the public don’t contain the term “pedo” in any context.

I want to see how Kayleigh McEnany spins this.

So, where did Trump get the exploding trees thing?

Did he make it up out of nothing or did he hear a headline and distort it into a grotesque caricature of itself?

I just never thought I'd see the day where a US president would behave is such a despicable manner as Trump. To sink so low as to push this QAnon pedophile CT against Biden and to allow his son to do so, too, is beyond disgusting. He has taken the Office of the Presidency and turned it into a peepshow, the kind you only go to after dark, alone and with your head down in fear someone might recognize you.

A small few trees explode in full on fires.
It's not water but the sap, which superheated, goes to steam, then... tree go boom. [emoji15]
Unless you're a firefighter or a late evacuee of your neighborhood, you're unlikely to ever see it happen in person. Hope so at least... it's damn, damn hot all around when it happens.

Not the first time I have said this. The hilight is everything that is wrong with the USA. Trump is not the cause of the problems. He is the overt symptom that has brought the problems into the open for all to see. Removing Trump from the presidency will not do a thing to resolve the deep seated problems in USA society. It will just send those problems back underground again where they will continue to fester.

According to press reports, Iran may be planning an assassination, or other attack, against the United States in retaliation for the killing of terrorist leader Soleimani, which was carried out for his planning a future attack, murdering U.S. Troops, and the death & suffering...

...caused over so many years. Any attack by Iran, in any form, against the United States will be met with an attack on Iran that will be 1,000 times greater in magnitude!

Left California for Arizona. Leaving Arizona after a GREAT meeting with our incredible Hispanic community. Heard fantastic and inspiring success stories. Will be landing in Washington (D.C.) soon! Big White House ceremony tomorrow morning with Israel, UAE, and Bahrain.

1,000 times greater in magnitude! We thought Hitler was excessive in his reprisals where 10-, or maybe a 100-fold amplification was applied.

Absolutely. They're like cockroaches in reverse. Whereas light makes them run back to hide in the darkness, Trump just brought them out to the light. There are just certain places I refuse to live in this country because their way of thinking isn't just different to mine; I find it totally incomprehensible.

I know... what a childish way to behave.
He's the friggin' US President. Say, in diplomatic language, do xyz, we blow you the **** up. Simples.

Nothing he does, nothing, conveys poise, stature, or lacking most of all... gravitas.
People think we elected "Bozo the Clown"... what we actually got was Pennywise. [emoji15]

Okay, for full disclosure, I found out today that three of my cousins and their families lost their homes in Oregon. One of those cousins had the home of a favorite aunt and uncle (uncle now deceased thankfully), a farm where I spent large parts of my summer as a child.

I consider myself well read on the histories of presidents, particularly those who served in my lifetime. Those stretch from Nixon to Trump. I simply can't imagine any of them being on the campaign trail while the entire west coast was up in flames and a major hurricane was about to strike the Gulf Coast. I have every confidence that all those other presidents, including Nixon would have been in the White House (or Camp David which has been used as an emergency command post when the Situation Room was down for some reason), making sure the full force and power of the US Government was being applied to protect American Citizens and ease their burdens.

FEMA, The Red Cross and ordinary citizens with vouchers from their insurance companies are trying to secure hotel rooms in Oregon for people who lost their homes. The problem is that hotels in Oregon are either under threat of evacuation or full of evacuees from other fires. It's simply beyond all logic and reasoning that we have a president who isn't sitting in the Situation Room with his foot on the neck of everyone in the USG who can find a room for anyone displaced by the fires and pressing real hard.

Instead, our president is in Pennsylvania, campaigning in a swing state. I will hate Trump voters forever and never look at one as equal to a real American.

Oh, he's in fire and fury mode again. What was that about the Nobel peace prize?
