Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 24

Private companies used for espionage? History is replete with examples... most of them in the USA... just a couple examples.

United Fruit Company: The Dulles brothers owned part of the company as UFC was used to overthrow a duly elected President (Jacobo Arbenz)in Guatemala.

AT&T: They gave full Internet transmissions to the government back in 2003 through 2006. Room 641A was a telecommunications interception room and it was managed by AT&T. When AT&T was facing serious charges, our government created a specific exemption for them and other telecommunication companies from prosecution. Sort of a reverse Ex post facto.

Air America and World Vision, are/were also fronts.

Huawei is state sponsored and is actively seeking (like most companies) an advantage within states outside of China. China's soon to be sanctions against Ericsson is exactly what the USA is doing to Huawei.
I also confused the issue as Huawei being denied placement on the approved equipment list for infrastructure contracts is the result of a process and has avenues for appeal/court challenge.

An EO banning a private company outright is yet another pandora's box. If you can do that, can an executive banish a flesh and blood person by name in a document that carries force of law? Can the executive just go ahead and assign someone to identify people to banish?

Trump Tweets

Obama worked harder for Hillary Clinton and the losing Clinton Campaign than she worked for herself!
A lot harder than Bush did, or will, work for Trump, certainly.

Now he’s working with Sleepy Joe - will be same result.
3 million more votes for Biden than for Trump, distributed just a little differently to the way they were in 2016, should be enough.

No I haven't, which shared border are they "fighting" over and accusing each other of illegally violating by building various bits and bobs?

Uh..

The biggest US cold war in recent history was with Russia. Did we have a border with them? (please do not reference Palin seeing russians from her home)

The difference with China is that we are so economically linked that it we be tough going to resolve it. It is trade and IP, not bombs, this time.

“i’m okay with children in cages but i draw the line at tik-tok dances.”

Someone want to make sense of that?
I too once had a brain fart that made me type that 'Trump beat Obama'. It was based on a monlogue by Sam Harris about how Trump has gotten revenge on Obama for humiliating him at the correspondents' dinner, and for, as I put it earlier, presidenting while black, and doing so much for diversity and civil rights. As Harris put it, come November Trump got to take this man and show him the door. Imagine how his ego must have felt. So I certainly understand the idea of 'Trump beating Obama'. In a way, he really did. The White House was once again staffed by white men, and his ideas of unity and reconcilliation were torn up.

I suppose Donald could have had a similar brain fart. Then again, as POTUS, he's supposed to put some more thought into his Tweets, and probably run them past someone before sending them, to catch typos, mistakes, and poorly thought out wording.

Or, you know, just not use Twitter as the primary means of communication at all.

Seems to me that the difference between 'absentee' and 'mail in' is that Trump wants you to vote “absentee” if you are a Republican but wants to stop your “mail-in” vote if you’re a Democrat.

That was a cold war between two blocs of which we were a member of one. Yes there was a land border. Perhaps you are familiar with the numerous Fulda Gap scenarios?

Either you've revealed you don't have much grasp of international politics to take seriously or you do and are willing to be dishonest for the sake of point-scoring and thus should not be taken seriously.

Wait, wait, wait. Hundreds of millions of mail-in ballots? Just how many Americans does Trump think there are?
This is the same Trump who claimed people voted and then came back to vote again wearing a different hat. Which is Four Lions-level stupid.

Yeah, I know, he was just joking, Clinton emails, Biden couldn't have done a better job etc.

Ah, right. All the whackos surrounding him. I forgot about those.

It's not the whackos that will be the problem. Those suits will be incompetent and easily dismissed. It's the "serious" Republicans who will be able to hire competent attorneys and find friendly judges.
This is NOT a Trump problem. The Republican party has been banging the drum on election fraud for at least a decade, as an excuse for disenfranchising people they don't like. Trump is just the tip of the iceberg.

I'd still like to know how this could possibly be enforced. Make a bad TikTok about Trump and he'll sue you?
Huawei seems to have been kicked out.
He wants to delay the election because he doesn't want to wait for the results.
He wants a Soviet-style election, where the results can show 97% in favor of the party five minutes after the polls close.

Stacy has is a she, I think. That would be scary for Trump.
Or a fungus, because I keep misreading her name as "Stachys".

Wait, wait, wait. Hundreds of millions of mail-in ballots? Just how many Americans does Trump think there are?

Many hundreds of millions.

It's not how many Americans he thinks there are, it's how many fraudulent votes he wants the suckers to think there are.

I think a new thread is needed on the upcoming election meltdown. I may wait until morning, however.

... Huawei seems to have been kicked out.
That's hardware, not an ap. Don't you have any signs on power poles over there announcing the 'coming of 5G to this pole'?

My neighbors have already run through the CT about the dangerous EM waves they will soon be emitting.

I can only wonder how long this occupation of country done by far-rightwing ******* insane ideology will persist. When people will say "enough"?

It's trivial to deny that any such thing happened when the only sources are anonymous. Especially when one has long been warned that the enemy of the state makes things up (and the failure of the Mueller report to end in impeachment and removal helped solidify that opinion).

It's not that Trump supporters can live with everything he does. It's just that they don't believe reports of those things they couldn't live with. They also allow themselves to criticize certain statements (like take the guns and then worry about due process), so they're certain that they are objective and fair and not mere cultists.
