Mea culpa. I overestimated my own reputation.
I am not Cain.
I am not Cain.
I am not Cain.
(I'll take this to my personal chalkboard to finish it out.)
Your post was clean, and obviously satirical, even without being familiar with your stances. Bluesjnr nailed the problem upthread; Overwoke will be the death of us all.
It is very difficult to detect sarcasm on a forum if you don't have a clear idea of at least some of that poster's body of work. Put the words Dr Keith wrote into a post by some of our "usual suspect" racist posters, or even into a post by a noob posting here for the first time, and see how well your "sarcasm detector" works then!
If I didn't know Dr. Keith's attitude from reading his posts, I would have reacted the same way that Joe Morgue did.
ETA: Perhaps using theemoji kindly provided by the forum management would help make such posts clearer.
(see what I did there?)
Fair enoughThat's kind of the point - it's not like JoeMorgue has never interacted with Dr. Keith before. They're both frequent posters, and both have a pretty solid history here.
Heck, if I am aware enough a person's posting history to get the sarcasm, anyone who posts more than me and has been here longer than me should be able to figure it out too. I'm that bad at keeping posters straight.
I'm also way unduly influenced by avatars. I will almost always assume some impression from the avatar into the person themselves... and that is frequently very wrong. For a very long time, I was quite certain that Sir Drinks a Lot was black, because his avatar was. And it took me a goo long while to glean that Butter!!! was a woman, because her avatar was of a guy. And I get Joe Random and JoeMorgue mixed up on a regular basis because they're both "Joe" with a predominantly black square avatar.
<snip>
On topic, I still think that posters should be careful with sarcasm and humour when posting on topics like racism; ones that generate so much emotion. Text does not transmit visual and aural clues such as body language, tone of voice and facial expression.

The only way that would succeed would be if everybody swore off all sarcasm completely (and I'm not sure that would be enough.)
No matter how careful people are there is going to be someone who ... innocently or willfully ... misunderstands and fails to recognise the sarcasm.
Language, on or off screen, is not a perfect tool. It's a pretty good one, but there are still going to be hiccups.
I see no reason to impede its usefulness even further just because occasionally somebody misunderstands.

I tried to turn the house lights up a bit. Am I any more distinct?

I've made peace with the fact that my brain does a lot of senseless things, and is frequently wrong about stuff.
Just to clarify, I'm not a baby, I often behave like a child but I'm not.
Oh! I don't smoke either...
I still think that's the most Rockingest Avatar in the history of avatars and I hope you never change it.

Such a good boy. I never watched the whole movie, so I assume that is a picture of Dog and Max walking into the sunset at the end. <No spoilers!>

One of the lessons learned by migratory cultures was that the best way to keep meat protein preserved for long periods of time was to let it do its own walking.
