Well he's already suffering the defeat, through polls. He knows very well they are not fake. And they will get worse and worse. Under 30% it will be really hard for him to suffer it any longer.

Trump has not been below 36% approval in his entire presidency, as measured by 538. (Past performance may not predict future results.)

He says what kind of record. They set the record for hottest 100 degrees. No other 100 degrees have been hotter. I know many people, and they all say, sir... (et cetera)

Could you explain why that would be a bad tactic?

2016 and 2018 demonstrated that just winning isn't enough due to the EC and Gerrymandering.
And that is before the obvious shenanigans Trump is up to with the Postal Service and Mail-in Ballots.

"Vote in numbers too big to manipulate" is exactly what Democrats should call for, because at a simple majority won't be enough to get Trump out of Office.

If his hardcore base hasn't turned on him by now, they never will. His approval rating won't go below 35% no matter what he does.

I'm optimistic.

One, Trump is ineffective. He has been uniquely ineffective for the entirety of his term. He doesn't even lie half well.

Two, there must be numerous republicans and current followers who consider him a liability, a loose cannon. Sure, they don't have the guts to stand up to him now and face the abuse, but once he has lost an election (if that happens), there will be defection. People will realize they lost a presidency term, will cut their losses and queue up at the hand-wash.

And from there on, it will be down-slope for Donnie.

Well, so I hope.

I keep hearing that Trump will be resuming the Coronavirus press briefings today, but I have yet to see anything announced.

Does anyone know of a briefing today being confirmed?

Nonsense. Trump is the most effective President in history. He's not effective at being the President, but that's not what anyone is even pretending anymore that he was actually elected to do.

No, he is not effective. He appeals to a certain group, but he is definitely an underachiever. Even his lies are ridiculous. Sure, there is that group who will support him no matter what, but that is not enough.

There's going to be a medical briefing today. But none of the actual medical personnel have been invited to present.
