So, I read this as 4% willing to die slow horrible deaths to vote for Trump.

More like 34% are happy to see others die for the cause. Republicans are already accustomed to believing all the negative effects of policy will fall on someone else while they will personally reap all the benefits. Eg the elderly voting form Republicans espousing “entitlement reform” never seem to care that social security and Medicare would be cut because Republicans tell them the cuts will only apply to other people.

Since they are already accustomed to this type of thinking it’s pretty easy to convince Republicans that “you will not be the one who dies and you will reap the economic benefits of their sacrifice”.

AIUI President Trump is immune from litigation resulting from his actions as President. I'm not sure if the same immunity extends to cabinet members but I would not be surprised.

I can imagine parents being able to sue local boards of education for failing to take adequate precautions but all that will do is bankrupt the local board of education, no pain would be felt further up the tree. :(

That's why there's also been a push to make businesses immune to lawsuits from employees getting sick after they reopen. I don't know if schools would be covered too, or if they would try for something separate. Local government bodies don't generate money, so probably not. Who cares about them?

Trump's upcoming briefing, with no medical experts at all, sounds like the perfect opportunity for some Trumpword Bingo.

Businesses that reopen in states where the government is pushing it probably should be immune to COVID-19 lawsuits since not reopening leaves them open to being destroyed by competitors that do. They should still do everything they can to protect their employees, but if the government claims reopening is safe - even if they're completely wrong - I don't know how businesses can be held to a higher standard.

The BBC is reporting that President Trump is going to resume his daily Coronavirus briefings.

Let the industrial scale whining and lying recommence, but now there will be no CDC to counter the Trump Administration's"statistics".
I am actually a little nervous about it.

Trump is a completely incompetent buffoon, and his actions (or, in many cases, inaction) has caused the virus to spread. And, his poll numbers seem to be dropping as a result. If Trump resumes the daily briefings, what will likely happen is that Trump will once again screw up with another "chug some bleach" moment and harm himself.

But what if a miracle happens and Trump actually manages to behave, well, normal for the few minutes of a briefing? We have set the bar so low that if he manages to get through a short speech without wetting himself people will mistakenly think "Ok, Trump can act presidential after all... lets re-elect him". He gets credit where he deserves none.

I'm still expecting, "The Kung Flu". I may turn this into a drinking game.

I watched about two minutes. He was saying how much better the US had done with Covid 19 than anywhere else.

I did catch him saying to wear masks if you can't social distance. I would have preferred "wear masks and social distance" but at least he got the mask memo.

Did anyone have any doubts he was just going to gaslight?

He doesn't get a pat on the head for this, with Ivanka saying "Good Daddy, now go play with your trucks." He still has about 143000 deaths to take responsibility for.

The tragic thing about the death rates is that there's a lag behind the surge in ICU cases. Give it about a week and sadly, he won't be talking about the death rates.

He shouldn't be talking lying about death rates now; between Texas, Florida and Arizona yesterday, there were over 360 deaths, with over 1000 nationwide. He's a desperate lying scumbag.

If even half of those are from real people... damn, those Trumpsters are idiots.

You're right, unbelievable. But it sounds like his base -- if that's who these whackjobs are -- are beginning to turn on him.
Sarah Kahler tweeted-
I believe HCQ is the vaccine. Also I believe he's talking about the Cabal being the virus and lethal injection is that vaccine.

Federico Reséndiz replied-
Play it backwards starting at 23:33 TRUMP: “I’m the Cabal; we are legion, we are legion”.

Anybody out there up for playing trump's presser backwards? Starting at 23:33? ;)

I'm going to guess someone is lobbying Trump or McConnell for this.

If not that then someone mentioned to Trump liability was holding up reopening the schools.
