Clarity is not important. The indelible memory of evidence for the Russia hoax is.

But I agree and was going to point out something similar: nothing was disproven (was it?), but some of it being unproven has never been in question.

I seem to recall a simple observation. "Isn't it great how Romney shows up the entire rest of the Republican Party every couple months by rising to do the bare minimum of what a decent person would do?"

With that said... I admit to an unpleasant truth. Personally, I feel no outrage at Trump's commutation for Stone. Why? I'm not quite certain, but I suspect that it has something to do with it not being a surprise and that, while notable, it's so absurdly minor compared to the rest of the ways that he's screwed over the US. It might also have to do with that it's just yet another move in Trump and the Republican Party's War against actual Law and Order, which has been waged for a long time.

No kidding, I'm betting Barr is just drooling with the chance to have mass resignations and the like so he can stuff the DOJ with his corrupt, toady lickspittles.

I feel the same way. Trump might as well be blatantly political on this issue because he's been telling us for some time that he sees no problem with using his political power for his own personal benefit. He does favors for loyal people. How the electorate feels about it I couldn't say.

It wasn't a pardon; Stone is still a criminal. Physically locking up nonviolent offenders isn't a high priority for me right now. Not sending a senior citizen to prison during a pandemic may actually be the right call.
 
Well, trump finally wore a mask. That whirring sound you hear is the flip flopping of all his MAGA followers now saying they supported wearing masks all along.

Becoming numb to Trump's behavior has always been the danger. I refuse to succumb to that.

I think he wasn't pardoned for one reason: a pardon removes a person's 5th amendment right to not self-incriminate because they do not face punishment for that crime. A commutation does not.

Since he is a self-described dirty-trickster, I have no doubt there's plenty of skeltons in his closet. The problem might be that there are so many really top people with some pretty bad crimes that Stone - all things Trumpian considered - may be too small for the DoJ to go after. What might happen though is that they may go after him to threaten him with a long jail term unless he starts talking.
