And those countries which have reopened schools have done so with lots of precautions and so on.
Precautions are down right unamerican though.

I'm surprised that nobody is taking about the extortion in the Tweet. Reopen the schools or I'll cut off your funding.
No, but he can declare an emergency and repurpose them. Or just do whatever he wants knowing that, to a governor, spending the next 2 years in court (with prescient knowledge of eventual victory) over it doesnt lessen the impact in the meantime.Of course it's an outrage. But there have been so many, what's one more? Fortunately, he has limited authority to block congressionally authorized funds.
I basically think we should sue him for mentioning Denmark, at any time. However, YES, we are far more open than the US. This is because we have VERY FEW cases. Currently we have 17 (seventeen) hospitalized. Even comparing country sizes, this is a vastly lower number than the US. So, of course, we can open more. This should be understandable even to a third grade school child.

Seriously, other than not being from Eastern Europe she's exactly his type.I'll bet she psychs up for each press conference by telling herself today will be the day Fox calls to give her a job as one of its blondes and she'll be able to quit.

Kayleigh McEnany today, When Trump said he wanted to ‘cut off’ school funding he meant he wants to increase it.

Trump administration threats to penalize states that don't "open" public schools for the fall semester "aren't helpful," State Superintendent Joy Hofmeister said Wednesday. "Threats aren’t helpful in alleviating fear, and Oklahomans don’t need to be schooled on the importance of reopening schools this fall," Hofmeister said in written response to an email. "We know it is critical for many reasons, not the least of which being the education of our children after the learning loss from this past spring."
Hofmeister said the department and local districts are trying to figure out how to maintain safe social distancing in schools that in many cases are already overcrowded. Tulsa World
However, the real reason is probably:
- Trump deciding on whether to put more tariffs on imports of Aluminium from Canada
- Stubby McBonesurs had supposedly ordered his boot-lickers to attack/insult Trump
- Given the poor handling of the Pandemic in the U.S., he doesn't want to risk going there and getting sick (or have to self-quarantine after he returns back.)
- He had to wash his hair that day.

Even the evil beast he put in charge of the Department of Education doesn't really believe it's smart to open schools up in person while the pandemic is so obviously still raging. Being a gutless Trump ass-kisser, of course, Betsy is mouthing support instead of saying what she said she thought a couple months back. It's not worthy of comment. It's just Trumpian bluster and him pretending to power which he does not have. 'Nuff said.

That's the short answer. What does Trudeau lose by not going? Nothing. I doubt this is front page news in Canada, and Trump can hardly pull the deal now he's made it front page news on Fox. Obrador's playing to his own capital markets, demonstrating that's he's not some crazed far-left idealogue. What's rather ironic is that Obrador's attendance has boosted the hype, and screwed Trump more tightly to his deal - his tremendous deal, his triumph. So Trudeau will come visit Trump "at some time", yeah, right ...Side note, Canadian prime minister Pierre Trudeau was also invited but declined.
...
I can't blame him. I can't really see anything good coming out of those meetings.
I'm sure Trudeau's people - and everybody else's people - have cast a dispassionate eye over the US polling, and know that Trump is history. Obrador is an exception : there's really nothing to be gained from association with Trump these days.Trump is a horrible negotiator and you can't trust anything he says. At bet, Trudeau would be a prop for a photo-op. At worst, he could get stuck in some Trumpian melt-down.
