He may get none of the money. He (and his lawyer) screwed up the pre-publication review process. Turns out giving a copy to his lawyer is not allowed. These people are just plain incompetent.

My take from that is if someone in government wants to stop a publication, it's almost impossible to not violate SOME law - or interpretation of the law - that gets at least the author in deep doo-doo.

These final three paragraphs from the article is all you need:
He promised extraordinary economic growth. When primary opponent Jeb Bush promised a 4 percent growth rate, candidate Trump offered “five or even six.” In fact, his best annual performance has been 2.9 percent. Currently, he’s presiding over the deepest crash since the Great Depression.

“America will never bow to a foreign nation,” Trump promised — but he groveled after the crown prince of Saudi Arabia rather than insist on justice after the murder of Jamal Khashoggi. He abandoned the Kurds in Syria to Turkey’s Recep Tayyip Erdogan. Cutting U.S. forces in Germany is his latest kowtow to Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Trump hasn’t delivered a China trade deal. He hasn’t delivered a denuclearized North Korea. He hasn’t delivered Middle East peace. As for making America great again — his signature campaign promise — two-thirds or more of registered voters now believe that the nation is on the wrong track.

tl;dr version: His promises aren't worth diddly-squat.

Well now, he did fulfill his promise that we'd have better and cheaper healthcare choices. And fixing racism will be easy and fast. Good lord, what more can the man do to make you happy?

This is a stretch, in my opinion. Remember, he *wanted* to give the speech in NC, to a massive audience.

Now, a person with a healthy ego would simply acnowledge the anniversary in their speech, discuss how far we've come, how they stand on the shoulder of giants, etc, without being cloying about it. You know, like Obama did in 2008 with MLK Jr. Dolt 45, however, is a pathetic fragile snowflake, and will likely brag about how great he is for "the blacks", or some other crap. Or just not mention it at all. And *that's* the problem.

One could write a book on the differences between what our POTUS does and what a person with a healthy ego does.

I tried to think of situation in which President Trump did exactly what a person with a healthy healthy ego would have done.

Right now I have bupkis.
I’ll gladly accept any examples.

It’s his right side. Stiff tentative steps with the right leg. Limited control of the right hand drinking water. The man has had a stroke and it’s left him w minor paralysis on his right side
Why was he rushed to Walter Reed last year?

That could be behind the attacks on Biden's health. When Trump & co throw accusations around, they're usually about something he's done himself.

I know it's common to dump on Trump for the current horrible economic conditions, especially since he was taking all the credit for the wonderful bull run that started with Obama. But we're in the middle of a friggin pandemic right now! Okay, he botched that response as well.

But even if he had done an exemplary job as president, as far as I know the USA economy would still have taken a terrible beating. Is there a way one could determine the situation would have been improved with a competent leader in charge? For example, unemployment at only 10% in April instead of 14.7%?

I note Canada's rate was 13.7% in May, higher than in April. But it's possible each country determines its rates differently, making a direct comparison difficult.

The ramp that I descended after my West Point Commencement speech was very long & steep, had no handrail and, most importantly, was very slippery. The last thing I was going to do is “fall” for the Fake News to have fun with. Final ten feet I ran down to level ground. Momentum!

"You shouldn’t get to play under our flag as our national team if you won’t stand when it is raised." @MattGaetz suggests the US should ditch @ussoccer.

I’d rather the US not have a soccer team than have a soccer team that won’t stand for the National Anthem.

Is it just me or is that the best speech Trump has ever given?

It is just you Mr Berenson. Though it does have the benefit of brevity
