1) Now in real numbers. AFAIK nobody deals in pounds of drugs. Not even criminals.

2) How do they know how much was NOT smuggled in? They would never know how much was smuggled until it was actually smuggled...and then caught. So this is really just a guess?

3) From point (2), how much WAS smuggled in? As in, how much did they miss? Any guesses on that also?

4) Conversely, how much ELSE was not smuggled in? A packet of aspirin? A boatload of murder-hornets? A plane-load of snakes? A cardboard model of Nelson's column from the inside??


And I note the odd relationship between the weights of drugs. 43 tonnes is a LOT of cocaine, but 4 tonnes of dope is not that huge. So perchance a lot more dope got through unnoticed? Or it was noticed but was not worth anybody's time to stop? ETA: partially ninja'd!

On the small amount of marijuana, is this related to its legalisation in parts of the US, which means it's grown there legally, so it's not worth the risk of smuggling it in any more?

Of course, if they had lost I’m sure British history books would paint them that way. Maybe they do anyway?

British history books are not quite so partisan as some Americans want to make their history books. I suspect they will relate the tale of the American Revolution much the same way as scholarly Americans will - referencing the facts above all else.

How much has Trump spend on drug interdiction compared to Obama?
Was that extra expense worth it?

That and the only other thing I could think of was that dope has a far lower profit-margin than coke per kg. 'Tis all about the money...

Even if it wasn't legal to grow in parts of the u.s., it's possible that the climate is just better for growing it locally.

Odds are there aren't many statues of Washington in London.

As quadraginta said, these people are only remembered because they were traitors. It seems odd to name military bases or erect statues of them. I get statues of important people despite some darker deeds, but statues of people remembered only for those deeds?

There really must be no adults left in the room. The recent episodes including the church walk and the tweet about Martin Gugino that promotes a baseless conspiracy theory, his stance on the Confederate flag, etc are things that I would think no experienced political operative or strategist would ever recommend and would seem to indicate that Tweetler is calling the shots and not doing a very good job of it.
