I don't imagine any appointments by anyone for the foreseeable future unless POTUS and senate are same party.

Even then, I wouldn't be shocked if a GOP majority senate didn't suddenly decide that a supermajority would be required for appointments (and to change that rule back) if there was a risk of a Democrat President and Senate.

Could it be even remotely possible that in Roger Goodell’s rather interesting statement of peace and reconciliation, he was intimating that it would now be O.K. for the players to KNEEL, or not to stand, for the National Anthem, thereby disrespecting our Country & our Flag?

A veto-proof group of Minneapolis lawmakers have announced a plan to disband the police department.
Republican lying. How surprising.

One step closer to civil war. This is what happens when two political options cannot coexist anymore.

Wouldn't happen. You know how people give all their money to wacko preachers? Trump would have at least a megachurch or two full of people delighted to give him money. Because there are a lot of stupid people out there, and he is their king.

Which is why even if it starts to look like DJT will not be our President come next year we have to start asking ourselves if he's really going to "Go away."

Like I said he's already planted the seed of "Deep state, fake votes" pretty deep had with his followers. I can see him doing a passive aggressive version of a "Leader in Exile" routine.

Must be a new intern working on the Twitter team.

"How was I supposed to know he doesn't know the word intimating? Wait, there's a glossary we have to use?!"

Trumps Tweets are more "Damok and Jelad... at Tanagra! Shaka when the walls fell!" with each passing day.

First, you don't give a reference never mind a link. Second, I reckon you left out an important detail: what comes next. This is from the New York Times:

Sorry for the lack of a link. I quickly scanned the blurb in the Post and tossed off a short post.

I'm not saying that they'll do without something like a police force, but it is an apparently radical idea similar to many of the Defund the Police plans (reducing both the funds and scope of Police duties). It is not as radical as the Abolish the Police movement.

Look, the plan may be reasonable if the details are sensible. Or it may be an asinine knee jerk reaction to the situation. In either case, it is fairly radical but not limited to radical activists.

What so you think they are just going to abolish the police force and not replace it? Any such move would be to replace a broken system with one that works, not head towards anarchy, But I suspect you know that and are just straw manning the argument.

I didn't mean to imply it was *that* radical, sorry. I was in a bit of a rush and tossed off a too-short post without context.

But I think that it is a fairly radical plan, similar enough to the Defund the Police movement (reduce police funds and decrease their duties) to suggest that this kind of response isn't limited to radical leftists. (Must come up with a synonym for "radical".)

Yeah noboody seems to be saying that we should totally getting rid of the police, but we keep talking about it because a lot of people keep looking at it and wiggling their eyebrows suggestively.

Republican lying. How surprising.

Perhaps lacking details but the same summary given in the WaPo (sub)headline.

And Republican lying? You've not seen a single post from me supporting Trump I'd wager. I think the GOP has lost all credibility during this administration. I also did not say whether the plan was reasonable or not, but simply summarized the situation without comment.

I should have given context (though I thought it was fairly common knowledge, on the front page of both the Post and Times). But your response is unwarranted.

I have heard a couple of Abolish the Police folks that are close, arguing for social services provided by the government and some form of community policing (without that word, perhaps). That is a very small movement as far as I can tell and I'd reckon that there's more to it than I understand.

I don't know of anyone who thinks there should be no form of crime prevention and arrest. The argument is that in the current situation, police and racism are so inextricably linked that the police must be completely replaced by some other distribution of their duties. Not at all sure if the Minneapolis suggestion counts as police abolition.

Tremendous sincerity, what a guy. Hard to believe, with this kind of political talent, his numbers would “tank” so badly in Utah!

96% Approval Rating in the Republican Party. Thank you!

The Lamestream Media refuses to talk about our Country’s record setting Jobs Numbers, which are indicating GREATNESS, and soon!

CNN Polls are as Fake as their Reporting. Same numbers, and worse, against Crooked Hillary. The Dems would destroy America!

LAW & ORDER, NOT DEFUND AND ABOLISH THE POLICE. The Radical Left Democrats have gone Crazy!

Urban/exurban is blue. Rural is red. That is *THE* political divide. Based on Brexit voting patterns, I would guess that that pattern is pretty widespread.

IMO it’s probably more about abundance of information sources that urban vs rural. It’s easier for the far right to control the media and message in rural areas.

FWIW, I think I read about a town (county? in NJ?) where an incoming, reform platform administration tried to reform the local police force. They failed. So they did something radical: sacked the whole lot and started from scratch (police chief first). Don’t know how they dealt with the pension obligations. It worked.

I tried to find details, but my DDG-fu is very weak today ... closest seems to be Camden, NJ ...
