I'm enjoying this.
I'm not. I grew up in Country Durham and saw how hard the closure of mining, steel making and other heavy industry hit the region and the huge damage done to individuals, families and communities.
The Nissan factory is a source of highly skilled, relatively highly paid employment in the area and when the supply chain, and the general economic impact is considered is a huge economic boost to the area. If it were to close, the area would be kicked back 40-odd years and another generation could find itself on the scrap heap.
I take no joy from that prospect. YMMV.
