Regarding the job gains recorded, but are these jobs actually "new" and not just the same jobs that were lost during the lockdown opening back up? People are be re-hired to previous existing positions. How does this have anything do to with Trump? While it's good news that a lot of people are going back to work it's not like new jobs were created. I suspect the unemployment rate will still be quite a bit higher than it was pre-pandemic due to the fact that a lot of companies didn't make it through. JC Penney and Pier One file for bankruptcy and AMC Theaters said they may not survive either. Airlines are planning to scale back flights which will cost a lot of jobs.

It never was actual democracy by design. Electoral College alone ensures that. Ironically enough, EC was created exactly to prevent someone like Trump.

If you asked any republican five years ago if EC should prevent someone that is *describe Trump*, you would get resounding "yes". Of course, now we always were at war with Oceania.

Don't. Remind. Me.

This is what I had long assumed, but it's mistaken. In truth, the framers struggled to decide on a mode of election (the executive branch took up more time and debate than anything else when it came to drafting the Constitution).

The framers' first impulse was to have the president selected by a national legislature, but they feared cabals. The framers were positively paranoid about men meeting in secret and brokering deals -- which is pretty much how the Constitution was created. The advantage of an Electoral College is that it would meet just the once and then dissolve forever.

The other alternative, famously favored by Madison on principle, called for a straight popular vote. The objection to such a system, again, was not a rising demagogue; it's not so much that they thought ignorant people would be duped as much as they thought voters just wouldn't have enough information about out-of-state candidates.* This provincial ignorance was believed to also possibly be a problem for members of the Electoral College who, it was speculated, would consist of second-rate minds since they couldn't win higher elected office. Another problem with a popular vote was that if people could transcend their state, they could not transcend their region, and the North's coalition would dominate in perpetuity. Source: Jack Rakove, Original Meanings, p. 259.

*Incidentally, since it was assumed everyone would vote for their own state's interests/favorite sons, electors must cast one of their two votes for an out-of-state candidate (in 2000 Cheney famously changed his place of residence from Texas back to Wyoming so he could run).

They are some of the 20+ million jobs “lost” in April due to COVID-19 lockdowns being re-hired (or replaced).

The incompetent Mayor of Washington, D.C., @MayorBowser, who’s budget is totally out of control and is constantly coming back to us for “handouts”, is now fighting with the National Guard, who saved her from great embarrassment...

...over the last number of nights. If she doesn’t treat these men and women well, then we’ll bring in a different group of men and women!

Also increase in newly opened restaurants is just mind boggling. And they all opened at the same time. As if someone told them to open right now !
America, **** yeah !

I am a big fan of Drew Brees. I think he’s truly one of the greatest quarterbacks, but he should not have taken back his original stance on honoring our magnificent American Flag. OLD GLORY is to be revered, cherished, and flown high...

...We should be standing up straight and tall, ideally with a salute, or a hand on heart. There are other things you can protest, but not our Great American Flag - NO KNEELING!

Geez, just breathe.

Cain, while I understand (and even enjoy) your "Caining", I also misunderstood when I first encountered you. Another member pm'd me and let me know about "being Cained". It's understandable that some members may not get it at first. Perhaps a  under those particular posts would help?

And then brag about his great ratings!

Well, to be fair, if there were teaser ads about POTUS coming up with a serious and decisive method to permanently solve all of America’s race problems, he would garner record-setting ratings.

I am well aware of "being Cained", but I don't take that as a blanket excuse to say whatever one feels like.

Humping Old Glory is also a great turn on! If it had a *****, I'd grab it!
