Yeah, as long as you don't kneel before a football game.
Never mind that.
The protestors in Lafayette last evening were exercising their rights to peaceful protest and Trump sicced law enforcement on them so that he could go on a walking photo op. They cleared the park without warning (far as I can tell) using tear gas, rubber bullets and flash bangs for a thoroughly optional stroll to a church for a photo op.
He literally attacked US citizens in the midst of a constitutionally protected activity for this.
This is among his worst acts as president in my opinion. I keep thinking that he's done so much harm, I must be wrong. There must be something that's worse. But I don't think so. Turning (non-lethal) weapons on the citizens so that he can have a photo op really is ******* horrible. It hits me on a gut level.
ETA: I suppose I missed an important feature of the photo op. After clearing the protestors by turning weapons on them (and beating them, according to reason.com), he posed with a Bible in front of a church. The religious connotations were startling. Yes, I know that many here will dispute whether Christianity has a history as a religion of peace, but regardless this is how it is portrayed. He cleared the protestors so he could wrap himself in the clothing of a religious man in order to sell himself to his delusional voters.
