That's my thinking about his hoax statement.

Either it's the disease that's a hoax, or it's concern about the disease that's a hoax. Either way is denial of the problem.

I saw the hoax thing as him just trying to put the whole thing into the thinking rut of "Democrats hate Trump, so you can't trust the things that they say (just like the things that we say about the Democrats that we hate aren't to be trusted as actual truth)."

To poke at the sarcasm defense, incidentally... it's probably worth considering a simple point. Even if it were true, would that make it any better? In actual context, Trump was a ****** moron. In the sarcasm defense, Trump is outright trying to hurt people, given the delivery.

Of course, Trump constantly trying to hurt people is nothing new. It's pretty much what he's actually trying to do with much of what he does nigh every day, after all. It's what he's done to many, many people over the years, for that matter.

This is in the middle of a global pandemic, and the USA is hurting bad. The US economy has tanked big time, and oil prices are now down to pennies. Everyone is scared, people are getting sick, and thousands are dying. Most of the USA and the world is sheltering in their homes. And you are going out to provide daily updates and be a leader and a shoulder for the country to lean on.

But instead you spout your stupid mouth off trying to do a bad impersonation of some juvenile internet troll by saying absolutely stupid-dumb stuff and giving high-end professionals in their fields moronically insane suggestions. And you think that is trolling the librul media somehow.

Not only did he not turn up, there was no briefing, and he tweeted that they were a waste of time because of the "lamestream media".

Problem is that its the networks who decide what to put on, I suspect unless Biden makes some gaff they can point and laugh at they will be content to focus on the trainwreck that is Trump's performance in front of the cameras. In fact I'm fairly sure the Biden did indeed make such a statement and it got about 5 seconds attention.

The Democrats need to come up with one single message and just hammer it home time after time.

Personally I'd show USA fatalities and then switch to Trump saying he doesn't take any responsibility, then the DOW going down, with the same clip of Trump and so on.

And then just keep plugging it.

At the end you could have older Republican presidents saying "the buck stops here" and similar and then end with Bidden saying "The buck will stop here".

And you don't have any debate with anyone who wants to say it is unfair, not quite accurate and so on. Every single Democratic spokesperson and politicians in every interview on every topic, in every rally just keeps going back to that message.

That is the only way to counter Trumps usual tactics.

If you're a stupid person who says something stupid, well, you can't really be blamed for that, can you? Saying stupid things is an inherent part of being stupid. It's not your fault.

But knowingly saying something stupid just to be "sarcastic" is a choice. And when you're the president, live on national television, with millions watching, some of who are statistically certain to themselves be stupid enough to believe anything you say, it's an evil choice.

Thus inadvertently proving, the daily Coronavirus press briefings weren't really about Coronavirus, they were about Trump. At a time like this, that is so totally despicable. Like one of the lamestream reporters told Trump at one of the last briefings, people want "information and guidance." Trump denies the public that reassurance because it no longer works for him politically. He politicizes everything.

All because, unlike 99.9% of the population, he was incapable of defusing the disinfectant disaster by wryly laughing and saying something like, "It was a senior moment, folks. Yeah, don't try ingesting much less injecting disinfectant. Sorry about that."
