Impossible. I know up here they seem to be aiming for 2 month lockdown for now. They can't possibly go much longer than that or it'll wreck every small business and many governments simply won't be able to handle the load.
It would save the small businesses (actually any size) if your central government would give them enough money to stay alive without ever having to pay it back.

<snip>

Again, there are already 6000 deaths in the US. How can he possibly think it's not going to top 8000?

Stop latching to everything you believe agrees with you. In a few weeks you won't be able to deny it anymore.
Note: DR's source is referring to the UK (or perhaps just England).

From my POV, yet another example of what we, here in the SMM&T board, often call "cherry picking".

I made it very clear how so many members made themselves experts and how much I value their views. I am impressed. I’m not certain why you doubt that I respect many of your own views. You have made yourself knowledgeable. You ask good questions.

Frankly it’s one or two other posters here who are offering ignorant opinions and appear to not wish to learn.

Sorry to give you the wrong impression.
No problem. I'm good with that.

There are already 50k+ deaths worldwide. We're far from having seen the worse of this thing.

You're just in denial.

He's talking about the UK.

Droplets fall quickly in humidity, ok. What about aerosols?

So dry conditions don't dry out the virus and kill it?

Aerosols will stay airborne better in dryer conditions. Also droplets above 5 microns can 'lose weight' in dry air and then become aerosols. If you've ever stayed at a ski resort, they often have humidifiers in the room so your nasal passages don't dry out uncomfortably. (it also diminishes the annoying static electricity)

Ventilators can artificially aerosolize as well.

It's the same for flu so there is quite a lot known about it.

I could pick bushels and bushels of these cherries but it would clutter the thread.

I haven't. I'm not one of those wealthy people who spread the coronavirus all around the world. :p

The researchers are scrambling to learn about this coronavirus in aerosols. This might suggest that it isn't like flu in respect to aerosols, or maybe they don't already know about flu in aerosols.

all the people who were wrong will still say I was the one who was wrong because all of the lockdowns are what caused the low number of deaths. I don't see a way out of this conundrum.
There is a way out, we will simply ignore your denialism. It may be a conundrum to you, but not to those who know what they are talking about.

I do very dearly want to be proven correct in my pandemic denialism, not least because it means millions won't die, but admittedly also because it would just be nice to be right.
Don't get your hopes up.

Yeah, they seem to be learning that it is a much heartier virus than flu in the environment, though very weak to common disinfectants.

I've seen too many medical papers now to recall, but if I can look later for it. Professor Kim Woo-joo did an interview about it in general terms with Asian boss on youtube. Its a great overview of what Korea learned. He is like the Korean "Fauci" --and he is baffled that we don't wear masks!

I can link later if needed...right now I have a parent teacher conference!

Today I completed day 14 of isolation. No signs of any of the symptoms, I think it's safe to say I do not have the lurgie. I'm clean.

My mate started on the 20th March too, his missus has Crohns, so do you think it would be silly of us to meet in his garage (no one has been in the garage for a fortnite either) for a game of pool and a pint, both being clear and strictly just us?
Depends. Do you feel lucky?

Coronavirus Incubation Period:
2-14 days represents the current official estimated range for the novel coronavirus COVID-19.

However, a case with an incubation period of 27 days has been reported by Hubei Province local government on Feb. 22 [12]

In addition, a case with an incubation period of 19 days was observed in a JAMA study of 5 cases published on Feb. 21.

I would give it at least another week.

And don't let your guard down. There are still many people out there who have it without realizing. Some of them are not taking proper precautions to avoid infecting others, because they think they aren't infected. And their numbers are increasing. Can you and your mate both guarantee that you will never become infected? If so then his missus is safe. If not - do you want to be responsible for her death? You won't know until it's too late.

By the end of tomorrow's count, New York state will account for 10% of all cases confirmed in the world.

I note the logarithmic deaths chart for USA shows no sign of flattening so far.

But you have referenced several times you don't believe there is a pandemic. :boggled:

To be fair, DR kinda sorta writes about a flu pandemic.

Oddly (or not) the incidence of flu/covid-19 in Australia, for example, is not even mentioned, let alone discussed ....
