Well, Tokyo has a population of 38 million. Maybe he just confused the two.

He is undoubtedly a dunderhead, but I would not put this one in the top 100 exhibits.

The greater metropolitan area of Tokyo has about 37 m but that encompasses a far larger area than the city of Tokyo which has about 8.4 m.

No, not in his top 100 idiocies but it is funny coming immediately after his claim that he "knows S Korea better than anyone".

That's a possibility. It's easy to mix up all of these Chinese cities.

Seriously though, I suspect he was given a fact sheet on Seoul and misremembered it. Americans do not normally consider metro populations. We think of NYC as eight million people. Los Angeles as four million people. We don't figure in commuters.

The problem with this fail, in addition to prefacing his comment by saying, "I know more about South Korea than anybody," is that he was challenging a reporter, or as the kids say, "flexing" on her.

I’m glad I don’t drink because I would make myself sick trying to drink enough to forget President Trump saying

“Think of it: 151 countries. Somebody said to me today that wasn't in this particular world -- they didn't know that we had that many countries. A hundred and fifty-one countries. That's something."
Did he really say that?

From Twitter:

"Trump just said Seoul has a population of 38 million people."

Ian Young replies:

"I am approximately 1,000,000 per cent certain that Trump Googled "Seoul" specifically to make this observation and then confused Seoul's elevation for its population."

He attached a picture of search results showing the elevation of Seoul is 38 m (125 feet).

Ugh.
Do you think he does his own Google searches? Perhaps it was in a paper put in front of him or one of those "only the best" employees made the mistake.

Has he said his mistake was fake news yet?

Now, THAT'S funny.:D

He probably picked up the phone and asked to be connected to Marvin Google, head of Google, to ask a question.

Oh, come on. Donald White House wouldn’t do that.

He's praising himself for having 1-million people tested..And now some douche-bag is up there praising Trump and Pence and the rest of the Trump regime and lying about how great of a job the government did on this so far.

To date Canada has tested 227,280 people. The population of the USA is 8.7 times that of Canada. If Trump had handed the outbreak as well as we have here in Canada (and I confess I'm rather disappointed with Canada's response) the number of tests would be double that, at 1,977,336.

Remember that 1:8.7 ratio in population? Right now the case counts are 1:22 for Canada vs the USA and death counts are 1:35.

If this was down to one of his "researchers", that says a LOT about the quality of the people he keeps on staff. And even more about the quality of their boss.

Food distribution workers are now going on strike.

When it comes to the economic catastrophe about to happen, Trump won't see it coming, because most people see economics as dollars and cents, stock prices and employment figures. However, the "real" economy is the means by which goods and services are provided to people, and that economy is about to collapse.

Or...maybe I'll be wrong. I sure as hell hope so.

And even more than that... not only has Canada done a better job at providing testing than the U.S., our political leaders are actually honest when it comes to problems in the system.... Trudeau has admitted to backlogs in the system and problems getting results returned in a timely fashion. (Not that I'm blaming Trudeau for the problems... but I do think its good to see a little honesty when compared to what Trump does.)

Where can I find the source for the lists of testing numbers?

But, but...Trump is doing the greatest job! It's tremendous! A 10 out of 10! We've never seen the likes of this before! It's amazing considering he inherited a broken system, a failed system!

The weaknesses and failings in the US system are becoming even more starkly apparent with this virus stressor testing the nation. In spite of a lead by way of warning, the US is worst in infection, and just about worst in response. Why?

- The decades of working against the Federal Government means a piss-poor national leadership role.
- The emphasis on 'States Rights' results in a patchwork approach to solutions.
- A rise to prominence of the special brand of American Christianity (fundy, prosperity, anti-science, rapture-ready evangelical) has lead to a too-large proportion of uneducated dolts living in fantasy land.
- The reliance upon morals and norms of behavior in the political class has revealed the flaw of failing to codify into law safeguards against such as this criminal gang currently in power.
- The unreasoning fear of 'socialism', and the adoption of a particularly pernicious capitalism, has the nation on the verge of a wealth divide like that on the eve of the Great Depression. With some 40% of citizens lacking a measly $400 to cover an emergency, the US is a nation of veritable paupers one paycheck away from ruin and disaster, a potentially frightful load upon the already miserable and miserly social safety net.
- The 2A loving nuts are of such number that in some jurisdictions the continued supply of guns and ammo is considered an essential service. Literally.

A worse virus than Covid-19 is required to eradicate in order that the US be saved.

These health care workers are risking their lives:

4 Boston Hospitals Report Significant Numbers Of Employees Have The Coronavirus
Four of Boston's largest and best-known hospitals said on Monday that in all, 345 of their employees have tested positive for the coronavirus, putting additional pressure on the area's already stretched medical resources.

Despite these people risking theirs and their families lives, incompetrump instead of making a greater effort to get them PPE and praise them for their sacrifices, accuses them of stealing the supplies and lying about how many ventilators are needed. Trump's tiny brain can't fathom how 20-30 thousand ventilators might be needed in NYC.

In addition to trying to make his press conferences about ratings (I think I said something related to this earlier) he now has turned one into a corporate ad for businesses that have given him praise and money.

Trump accused of using coronavirus briefing as corporate advertising spot

Guess whose the leading star? My Pillow Guy. :sdl:
The president paraded several company leaders in the White House Rose Garden, starting with Mike Lindell, the chief executive of MyPillow, who has become a regular cheerleader for Trump at his campaign rallies. ...

Trump praised companies for doing their “patriotic duty” by producing or donating medical equipment to meet America’s most urgent needs. “What they’re doing is incredible,” he said. “These are great companies.”...

He went on to invite Lindell, Darius Adamczyk of Honeywell, Debra Waller of Jockey International, David Taylor of Procter & Gamble and Greg Hayes of United Technologies to make short speeches. He introduced Lindell as a “friend” and riffed: “Boy, do you sell those pillows, it’s unbelievable what you do.”..

Then, in a bizarre gear change, Lindell went into campaign rally mode and referenced the date of Trump’s election. “God gave us grace on November 8, 2016, to change the course we were on,” he said. “God had been taken out of our schools and lives, a nation had turned its back on God..
Trump claimed, I do declare I had no idea he was going to say that.

One of the worst jobs in history, worse by far than the Keeper of the Royal Stool in Tudor and Elizabethan times, must be having to endure participating in the presidential wanking by subservient underlings that is Trump's daily team meeting.

I like to watch the people standing behind him. I swear I see them trying to control their facial expressions sometimes.

This is the leading sentence from a TownHall editorial:
Trump’s mastery of crisis management is textbook.

The whole thing is a demonstration of a total disconnect from reality. It's worth reading just to see what we in the rational community are up against.

I've posted in the comments section. It will be interesting to read the responses.
