Yes the source may be good, but as smartcooky pointed out, how practical or even possible is it for people to seperate so far that the possibility of infection is zero?
At least half of the post was aimed at the Daily Fail and other outlets.
Note the bolding of fact-checked.
Yeah, right. This is typical edge-case scaremongering from the Daily Mail, so until I see this information framed as a real threat, from a more reliable outlet, I'm not going to pay much heed.

...
At this time, of all times, we need to be warning people about where they should be getting their information from. Facebook, Twitter, and other social media platforms should be the very last place to get information from about this pandemic. People have already died by taking advice given on social media. We should be sticking with reliable, fact-checked, mainstream media, and just ignore sensationalist tabloids like the Daily Fail.

I wish the idiots at the Fail would really think about it long and hard before publishing this kind of unnecessary bollocks.
The Telegraphs article
Social distancing: new study suggests two metres is not enough
The two-metre social distancing rule being used to keep people apart may need to be four times bigger to prevent coronavirus from spreading, a new study by Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) suggests
is arguable less sensational, but no more accurate than the Fail’s article, and no more closely fact-checked.

Daily Fail
The 26 FOOT sneeze zone: Coronavirus social distancing limit is at least four times TOO SHORT because infectious droplets can fly much further than current 6ft restriction, study warns
The public are currently being asked to keep a distance from each other of at least 6ft 6in.

But a new study by the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) suggests the gap should be four times bigger at around 26 feet.

Death rate in U.S. is low because the case spike is still happening.

Check back next weekend.

On the other hand, deaths vs. recoveries looks atrocious.

Some countries don't even regiister recoveries. They stopped doing it in Denmark at about the same time they limited testing to hospitalizations and/or apparently severe cases (more or less the same thing), and they probably won't start doing it until they have a test of antibodies, which they don't have yet.

Tradeoffs.

I've been practicing social distancing by staying home. That's perfect. However, sooner or later, I'm going to have to go to a store. You can't run a store with 26 foot distancing.

Keeping 6 feet away will dramatically lower the probability of infection, but it won't get you all the way to zero.

Yeah, I can’t see the practicality of this distance - especially for medical practitioners and support.

And some people will just ignore it anyway.
I had a guy practically stalk me at the chemist today. No matter which way I went, he tailed me from less than 2 feet away. Idiot.
The queuing area at the tills have “x”s marked with tape on the floor 2m apart to help keep your distance.
Didn’t see one customer taking any notice of it

Yes, agreed.

I have nothing but good experiences with information from this site, and what I've read from your link is in line with the current health recommendations.

The problems seems to be people more than stuff.

It sure seems like they are saying that despite the constant calls to wash our hands it would be hard to get the virus from dirty hands. They pretty much said just that.

Following up on my post from Mar23:
"I think Kyrgyzstan will be the next explosion. Their capital city has had 'corona weather' for a while, matching all the other places it easily spread."

They officially had 16 cases then, and are reporting 58 today. But the official numbers are way off.
Population there is about 6 million.

Indian medical students stuck in cities there are sending out an SOS. Everything in lockdown with thousands of suspected cases. They fear for their lives and want to be evacuated.

Kyrgyzstan is now the first country to get a check from the IMF to help - $121M
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) said its board has approved an emergency $121 million disbursement to Kyrgyzstan to help the Central Asian nation deal with the COVID-19 pandemic, in what could be the first in a series of such moves.

Kristalina Georgieva, the IMF's managing director, said in a statement on March 26 that the “COVID-19 pandemic has been hitting the Kyrgyz economy very hard and created an urgent balance-of-payments need.”

“All sectors are being impacted with extreme severity as measures are being taken to stop the spread of the virus.

“Nearly 80 countries are requesting our help"

Coughs and sneezes spread diseases,
Catch the germsies in your handkerchieves.

`Problem solved.

Do we know its actually coughs and sneezes?

We are told to be super careful about keeping our hands washed and not to touch our faces

Then we are told it would be extremely hard to get it from ingesting things (even dirty hands)

Then we are told a super spreader infected more than a dozen people as it walked thru a room not coughing

How did the "isolated' people on the diamond princess get it?

These two statements are not in conflict with each other.

Some viruses are particularly effective in the GI tract, norovirus for example.

Some are not. ie. SARS-CoV-2.

Dirty hands in your mouth, no problem.

Dirty hands on your food, no problem.

Dirty hands in your nose or eyes, big problem.

Huffing virus off your hands into your lungs, big problem.

I'd like to see your references for the 'super-shedder' who infected a room full of people without coughing or sneezing.

It can be washed in the washing machine. Use antibacterial soap..
In case nobody has noticed this: the sars-cov-2 virus keeps its RNA encapsulated in fatty molecules. This coating is destroyed by normal soap, and at normal temperatures.

ETA: I now see it has been mentioned. Sorry to interrupt.

So the paranoia with which I've been washing every gatorade bottle several times and clorox wiping my chef boyardee cans wasn't really al lthat important?

Though so many cases of this present first with GI symptoms and never get a fever, do you think that's food borne?

I'm looking for it, it was mentioned on TWIV, I'll try to find the source

I put on some washing today.

And just to make sure it worked properly I stood and watched it and sang “Happy Birthday” 240 times.

That doesn't sound good, the last thing needed right now is damned fool governments trying to hush it up.

I disagree - the clusters of Covid-19 have all the hallmarks of foecal-oral transmission, and since patients have been shedding viruses rectally, I'd be saying the exact opposite to you.

I'm not disagreeing that hand - eye/nose is a problem, but I'm sure hand - mouth is too.
