The Trump Presidency: Part 20

Barr says they are going to crack down on businesses that are hording or holding back necessary/needed items in order to force up demand/market value.

"If you're sitting on a garage full of toilet paper, we're not interested in you. If you're sitting on a warehouse full of N95 masks, expect to hear a knock on your door."

Earlier today they said there was only a couple companies/people doing this. Now it makes a great, 'look what we're doing' tap dance.

What?! Interfere with the freedom of the invisible hand and internal workings of the almighty US economy and business markets and conglomerates?? How can they do this!! Next thing you know they will want free health care for everybody just because of some little virus!

COMMUNISM, I SAY! GET MY GUN!!!

Why would anyone pay an exorbitant amount for toilet paper? Use some imagination, people. Cut up old t-shirts, towels, etc into squares, use, and wash in hot water. It's amazing that people managed to survive before the invention of TP.

FWIW, here's a Vanity Fair article that digs a little deeper into that.
...

Exhibit Eleventy-Billion and Two: "[W]e don’t know who to call on masks."

...Comforting. Maybe, just maybe, had the Orange Monster not been so intent on firing the people who would know, they wouldn't have that inane problem.
On that last one when he said it, my thought was what the hell is Pence's committee doing if not assessing where and how much PPE and other supplies can we draw on?

So... what is Trump exactly doing? I mean, beside whining how everyone is mean to him?

On that last one when he said it, my thought was what the hell is Pence's committee doing if not assessing where and how much PPE and other supplies can we draw on?

His entire strategy seems to be "Can't someone else do it?"

No tests available, "Can't the drug companies do it?"

Not enough ventilators, "Can't GM just make them for us?"

Not enough masks, "Can't Hanes just call us up and give us what we need?"

The States need help with all of that, "We're not shipping clerks, work it out amongst yourselves."

They keep holding up that stupid pamphlet with the blue wave on the bottom. "This, this, here are all the answers right here in this."

Why Tom Cotton and Others Are Right To Question Where Coronavirus
History tells us that such questions are not out of bounds. Here's why.

So Maria thinks it's ok to question where this mess started but then ....

Maintaining Freedom in America During Coronavirus Madness
Draconian coronavirus closures of restaurants threatens due process

The coronavirus pandemic, which ravaged portions of China and Italy, has arrived in the United States and our central planners have panicked.
Napolitano isn't going to let a little cognitive dissonance get in his way!

Please, if there is a God in heaven, keep this idiot off the school board. She's the epitome of stupid.

From the second quote:
And so when people were like, ‘You're irresponsible, you're out there spreading it,’ I'm like, ‘I can't spread it if I don't have it.’”

Valley Girl runs for school board. She should be *in* the school, not running it.

It is very important that we totally protect our Asian American community in the United States, and all around the world. They are amazing people, and the spreading of the Virus....

....is NOT their fault in any way, shape, or form. They are working closely with us to get rid of it. WE WILL PREVAIL TOGETHER!

Trump Tweets

This is the way the @nytimes finished a story on me. “You can see the contrast between the steady, assured, informed and strong leadership that VP Biden (Sleepy Joe) has shown, and the bungling, chaotic and dishonest start-stop approach that Mr. (not Pres.) Trump has shown....

....us since the beginning of this crisis.” They meant the opposite? Forgot to mention that I closed our Country to China (and Europe) very early, long before it was considered acceptable to do so. Sleepy Joe said I was “xenophobic”, but I saved thousands of lives! Fake News!

Did he use "China virus" in his brief today? I missed the first part, but for the rest of it he seemed to stumble when every opportunity came up and said something else more acceptable (well, "foreign virus" is almost as bad, but still..)

Watch the "I saved thousands of lives" quickly grow into a bigger and bigger number.

Another deptessing account of how we got here (hint: the U.S. refused to use the WHO test):
“There were many, many opportunities not to end up where we are,” Dr. Ashish K. Jha, the director of the Global Health Institute at Harvard, told the AP. “Basically, they took this as business as usual. ... And that’s because the messaging from the White House was ‘this is not a big deal, this is no worse than the flu.’ So that message basically created no sense of urgency within the FDA or the CDC to fix it.”

No wonder progressives have been having such a hard time putting together a winning presidential campaign lately. All this fear mongering about how scary the right is must be leaving left-wing voters very conflicted. It's gotta be hard to figure out if you're supposed to vote your progressive ideals or your conservative risk mitigation.

It's kinda scary when people claiming to support the right send pipe bombs to progressive leaders.
