I must say, that was a VERY boring debate. Biden lied when he said I want to cut Social Security and Medicare. That’s what they ALL said 4 years ago, and nothing happened, in fact, I saved Social Security and Medicare. I will not be cutting, but they will. Be careful!

I gotta say that I never worried about having a President who's public speaking style was functionally identical to chain e-mail conspiracy theories; complete with punctuation, random capitalization, and spelling mistakes all written in a stream of consciousness style.

Mainly because I never even considered it a possibility.

I'm waiting for him to tweet "THEN WHO WAS PHONE!?" one day.

It would have been down 10000 were it not for the Trump Administration's perfect response to the Coronavirus - effectively a rise of 8000 due to President Trump. By that measure it's the best day on the Dow in history ;)
 
Just like the market boom in the last years had not that much to do with Trump, this dramatic decline is also not really of Trump's doing: this is a capital C Crisis that would mess up the world economy even if it was over tomorrow.

Well, he does have something to do with it.

The FTSE index has gone down roughly 2,000 points over the last month. The Dow has gone down roughly 8,000 in the same period.

It's the fastest crash in history. Trump has to own some of that.

His poor handling has to bear some responsibility no matter how much he says otherwise.

I think the fumbling response has made it worse than it would otherwise have been. Particularly the confused announcements of measures to be taken which were then backtracked. Uncertainty is bad for the stock market, and when the people in authority appear uncertain...
 
The Fed was too aggressive (huge understatememt). It doesn't read like "responsibly managing the market" to avoid recession. It looks like the Fed is chasing after the car down the hill with no driver in it.
