It can't happen here, right? The dismantling or crumbling of democracy as has occurred in other nations could not possibly take root in exceptional, God-favored USA. A comforting thought many USAians smugly content themselves with. But we're seeing here, in real time, just how such a process gets underway. A door to a dark place is most decidedly opened a crack. A political 'one minute to midnight' is looming. I see the coming election in November as one of the most crucial in American history.

I doubt they will this has not happened over night moral Republicans Died. Long ago when Fox News and simular nonsense sites started making excuses for everything they do that's evil.

I think the Democrats are right to try to control the narrative on this. The Republicans want to make the trail about the Bidens. But it's not. It's about Trump. Even if the Bidens are the most corrupt, guilty people on Earth, that's completely irrelevant to the trial that's currently going on.

It's a bad idea to let the Republicans make it about the Bidens, and it's a bad idea to spend the whole trial chasing down the lies of the Republicans. The message is simple - Trump acted in a corrupt manner and obstructed justice and needs to be removed - and it's a good idea to stay on-message, especially as the facts are on the Democrats' side.

What he said was not ambiguous. And if you don't think someone on Trump's team would tell so blatant a lie, then you haven't been paying attention.

Incidentally, have you heard of "the Big Lie"? It's a propaganda technique first identified and named by Hitler in Mein Kampf. The theory is that it's better to tell big, outrageous lies than small ones because everyday people tell small lies themselves all the time, but they wouldn't have the audacity to tell one that's too large so they will believe a bigger lie because they won't believe that someone else could be so audacious.

That seems to be what you're saying here. Dershowitz couldn't possibly knowingly tell a lie so big, so it must instead have been an honest mistake. Well, he could. The people in Trump's orbit do it all the time. And it works.
