Cont: The Trump Presidency: Part 19

I don't think so. He must know people people will not rally around him because he was personally attacked. Or he doesn't want to risk finding out.

I need to clarify this. I was not talking about Trump's base. I meant people as in the county that would get behind him if he starts a war.

IOW attacking Trump personally is not something that would outrage the country like say, killing 3,000 Americans might be.

I don't know if "People would be blase about an attack on the President" is really where we are at, Trump or no Trump.

As Simon Gruber told John McCane "There's a difference between not liking your brother and not caring when some Irish flatfoot throws him off a skyscraper."

Want to bet he'd get federal aid to cover his suddenly 110% occupancy rate in his hotels? ....

I suppose there are some ways he could declare it to come out of the military or FEMA budgets. But this could never get by the House and this is an election year, not sure GOP legislators would vote for it.

I was assuming people mean things like introducing bed bugs to his hotels...

But folk do need to remember that he would not know if his businesses were being financially hit, he has assured us as.long as he is President he'll have nothing to do with his businesses.

He would if the reports got news coverage.

How would attacking a Trump property (for example the DC Hotel ) and killing innocent people who have nothing to do with President Trump make it about him.

Seriously, you need it explained how an attack on Trump vs an attack on the USA would send different messages?

But I favor the beg-bug option.

No ****, just like the deficit not mattering either. From the article:
For one thing, it's an enormous amount of money, more than the final cost of bailing out the auto industry during the financial crisis of 2008. The auto industry bailout was fiercely debated in Congress. Yet the USDA created this new program out of thin air; it decided that an old law authorizing a USDA program called the Commodity Credit Corp. already gave it the authority to spend this money.
Buying votes outright.

Think about it Joe, would it outrage you if a bunch of Trump properties in foreign countries were attacked?

You might not like it, but would you be outraged? I sure as hell wouldn't be.

Mind you I still favor a non-violent attack like bed-bugs.

The homeless situation in Los Angeles, San Francisco, and many other Democrat Party run cities throughout the Nation is a state and local problem, not a federal problem....

....If however, the city or state in question is willing to acknowledge responsibility, and politely asks for help from the Federal Government, we will very seriously consider getting involved in order to make those poorly run Democrat Cities Great Again!

This is at least the 2nd time he as said the Fed would help if 'asked politely.'

If he has help to offer he is evil for withholding it, asked or not.

Of course, his low morals are not news.

An offer of help from a guy who crashed casinos and went bankrupt multiple times is NOT a serious offer worthy of anyone's consideration.

Are we living in the same country, talking about the same person? Trump's supporters absolutely will rally around him if and because he was personally attacked. It is quite literally a personality cult. By now everybody should have no doubt about this.
Yep. Trump would win an Oscar playing the role of unjustifiably attacked martyr and his adoring crowds would up the decibels accordingly.

What ever the outcome, I don't want him to fill that role. And, yes, I know, that is probably wishful thinking.

I think the following is a more important bite:
"They've already given out $19 billion to farmers, but they're cutting $5 billion from people in need," says Rep. Marcia Fudge, D-Ohio, who sits on the House Agriculture Committee. "I don't even know how to describe it except to say that it is cruel, it is unfair, and it is clearly designed to support the president's base, as he sees it, as opposed to those whom he sees as being undeserving."

Just SOP for Trump.

I smell a bait-and-switch. I hope the Dems just ignore this line of tweets.

They haven’t already asked the federal government for help? Repeatedly? Through official channels through their representatives, senators, governors, and mayors? It was it polite?

What he wants is to have his opponents to kiss his ass, like his spineless supporters.
What a evil little lying barbaric toad!

I want Trump out of office -- and preferably in prison. But what have we come to when we gleefully suggest that a foreign power should target our president or his properties?

If we are to believe the Daily Mail, for once, Iran is, in fact, targeting Trump properties as part of the response. And has put a bounty of around 80 million on Trump's head.

How would attacking a Trump property (for example the DC Hotel ) and killing innocent people who have nothing to do with President Trump make it about him.

If it was specifically done in response to his actions, how would he not be a central figure in it?

Also, for the "fun" of it...

Pompeo, Awaiting the Rapture, Pushed Trump to Strike Iranian General Soleimani

The Washington Post has reported that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo was the main force that pushed Trump into assassinating Iranian Major General Soleimani. Pompeo, according to a New York Times reporter, had a fixation with a bible passage about Queen Esther protecting Israel from Iran. Pompeo’s extreme hostility towards Iran is motivated by his extreme religious beliefs.

Meh.

Move from the bushfire thread where it didn't belong.

He [Morrison] absolutely can, but it would be political suicide for the Liberal Party to do so. They're already on the brink of losing the next election - yet another spill could push them over.

Same bind as us, no one will stand up if it means their cushy job.

I'm watching a McCarthy special on PBS' American Experience. Wow! Talk about history repeating itself. The Republican legislators wouldn't stand up to McCarthy because they were afraid of losing their elections.

Edgar R Murrow: "The fault is in ourselves."

Eisenhower stood up to support the Army which had become a McCarthy target.

Roy Cohn stood behind McCarthy insisting the Army be investigated.

[sidebar] Sadly Welch used an attack on homosexuals to attack McCarthy. [/sidebar]

McCarthy got drunk during the hearings. Damn I want to see that whole hearing. Off to my search engine I go.....
