*Laughs* I'm shocked.

That's my entire point. We've already had the Jessup moment where the "bad guy" confesses his crime and it hasn't mattered yet. Like 10 times now minimum.

Confess hell he openly brags about what he does.

So the Democrats get Trump "on the stand" and play 3 dimensional chess 10 steps ahead at him until he screams "Hell yes I ordered the code red!"

What happens then?

Pretty much what we have right now. Clear, convincing evidence of the President committing impeachable offences is produced by the Democrats, and the Republicans say, "Not only do we not care, we are going to invent a ridiculous and convoluted conspiracy theory that shows that Hillary Clinton was behind the plot to rob Hillary Clinton of the Presidency! Take that, Liberal scum!"

In all fairness to Joe. I used Chess as a metaphor first. I didn't respond to his meaphor because I don't think it applies. Trump can knock over the board all he wants but the game goes on.
I was only referring to chess complicating this issue. I've no objection to the metaphor.

By not sending the articles over all the Republicans can do is whine about the Democrat's tactics. Which is only something their choir cares about. And the Democrats continue to control the narrative.
:thumbsup::thumbsup:

He's not looking at impeachment now. He's just looking at the Democrats going through the motions until they decide to send it to the Senate to be laughed out of the room by Mitch McConnell and his cronies.
He has been impeached.

Goodness what side were you when anyone saying Clinton wasn't impeached was jumped on with pedantry?

Oh okay. Next the Dems can get more airtime to get their message that "Water is Wet" out because there's about the same number of people who don't already know that as well.
I believe you overestimate how many voters are listening currently.

To be fair, Hillary Clinton kinda was behind the plot to rob Hillary Clinton of the nomination. Not that it was much of a plot, nor much of a conspiracy. But she did bring a certain amount of own-goal-ness to the polls in November.

At least I accomplished that! ;)

I've gone over this already. You didn't think much of it. ;)

Outside of a very small number of people, the public's mind is made up on Trump. Unless something major happens like the economy tanking, it's not going to change. (Trump being totally corrupt doesn't matter to his supporters. ) I think Trump either has the votes he needs to have another electoral college victory or he doesn't. I don't believe he has a chance in hell of winning the popular vote.

But maybe that small number in the middle could tilt the election.

Did Democratic voters care that Clinton had been given the "Stain of being impeached and it can never be washed out!"

Again when you vote a troll into office specifically to $#@! with the Democrats, the Democrats getting so angry they impeach him is... like Christmas and your birthday rolled into one.

I believe you overestimate how many voters are listening currently.

Again I'll factor in the invisible silent voters who somehow exist without leaving any trace on the political discourse when they show up, not before.

You can put your faith in some Deus Ex Machina "Skeleton Army from Return of the King" showing up at the last minute to save us all, I don't.

Can we remember the fact that so far the Articles haven't been held back?

Semantics. The final vote in the House was 9 days ago. Even with weekends and holidays in there that's enough time.

Even if we agree with the whole "Oh no you see technically we haven't finished because the paint isn't dry on the last i dotted and t crossed so the traditional herald can carry the tablets to the Senate and present them to the Speaker in the Rotunda during the Harvest Moon" argument, which I don't, what are they waiting for then that isn't holding them back?

"We're not stalling, we're just waiting until we finish discussing whether or not we should stall?"

Do you ever yearn for a more substantive political accomplishment than "gosh, I sure hope this hurts the president's feelings"?

I hope it rattles him and he keeps acting like a moron lessening his chances at reelection.

Bill did. And clearly Trump cares.

DID... THE... VOTERS... CARE?

If Bill Clinton could have run for a 3rd term in... what 2000 I guess it would have been... would he have been re-elected even though he had been given the unbearable stain of being impeached that nobody could have erased that you've been holding onto like a mantra for the last few pages?

In an alternative universe where Hillary had won in 2016 but a Republican held House just impeached her for... Bengazi or her e-mail server or her underground pizza parlor child sex dungeon (Jesus Christ it's been a weird few years... *takes a shot*) or whatever... is your alternative universe self still voting for her in 2020?

Stop doing things to Trump assuming he's going to react like someone who has a conscious, soul, ounce of shame, or sliver of self reflection.

No point to send the Articles to the Senate until, at the very least, House Managers are selected and a preliminary timetable is set.
When that has happened and Pelosi still doesn't send the Articles we can speak of Delay in more than the hypothetical.

And there is no point selecting House Managers until we know what sort of trial the Senate has agreed to conduct.

True. If the Senate decides to deploy Tanks, you'll want to counter with anti-tank Managers. On the other hand, if the Senate goes with an IADS, then you'll want a Manager who's strong at SEAD.

Another way to look at the current efforts by the Dems is not that it will convince anyone on the fence (although if it does, that's all to the good), but it is also a matter of getting people to show up - at the polls on election day - who may already be convinced of Trump's crimes but are not motivated to actually vote.

See post #2612. Trump doesn't do self reflection. But he is obsessed with what people think and say about him. He's not immune to being rattled. In fact, he's easy to rattle. If he had half a brain he would have reelection sewn up. The only reason he doesn't is because he's a disgisting dumbass pig.

Joe's right. Psychotic, but right.

(No, not really. Just on case you don't get the reference,Animal House.)

But he is, in fact, right on pretty much everything to do with impeachment.
