Mitch McConnell is openly conspiring with Trump on Impeachment

It's been a longstanding source of frustration to me that people still believe that conservatives have principles in the first place.

And yet they do, just not the same as yours, and when you're talking principles you likely need to subistute the word "beliefs", because that is what you're talking about through that black and white lense of yours

Politics has achieved Philosophical levels of "Arguing only by categorization."

Trouble is Conservatives, ie: conservatives are fascists, not democratic. One party rule, and white supremacy.

They don't deserve the description Conservatives.

They are Regressives eager to return to their fairy-tale land of US Uber Alles.

Conservative is the name they have chosen for themselves. Not that it matters, since there really isn't a 'liberal' party in the US. There's the Democrats, a moderate right wing party, and the republicans, an extreme right wing party.

my edit

they are no longer a Party - the interests of the GOP have been completely replaced by those of Trump personally.

And yet if a Democrat is elected in 2020, the R's will be clamoring for impeachment by 1 Feb 2021.

The Republicans aren't going to give two tin whistle farts about the Democrats braying "hypocrite at them" when they turn on a dime in a few years times so trust me they ain't sweating it now.

"Hypocrite" is such a played out meme anyway. Everyone's a hypocrite. Nobody cares. The biggest hypocrisy of all is the pretense that the other tribe's hypocrisy is super important but your own tribe's hypocrisy is inconsequential.

It's a lazy accusation by people with nothing more substantial to say, but who don't want to feel like they're losing an argument. Of course the Republicans aren't going to care about it, any more than the Democrats do.

have you compared what McConnell and Graham said about the Impeachment at the time of Clinton compared to now?
Hypocrisy is exactly the correct description.

Of course it's the correct description.

It's just not the awesome gotcha people imagine. It never is.

---

It's something that seems to come up a lot in actual political disputes. People seem to expect some kind of satisfying and conclusive result, like you might see on Perry Mason or Phoenix Wright.

"Aha! You said this, but in the transcript it says that! Gotcha! The defense rests!"

But real life is not an Aaron Sorkin TV show. When the Mueller report came out, there was no TV judge to bang his gavel and say "case closed!" The impeachment hearings are not set pieces in a courtroom drama with a satisfying conclusion already written into the script by a talented writers' room. "Hypocrite" is a tired cliche that nobody takes seriously, not even the people shouting it out at every opportunity.

No, it's just the sad realization that calling it out won't get you anywhere. Because the deplorables don't care. It's water off a duck's back to them.

But the rest of us do care. And if pointing it out energizes enough people to do something about it, we might actually get somewhere.

Trouble is Progressives, ie: Liberals are Socialists, not democratic. The rule of the Majority over Minorities.

That IS how democracy works, rocky. You persuade the most voters to support your position/candidate. If you can't do that, you don't get your way.

Minority rule is tyranny.

The actions of the GOP since 2010 show that it no longer has principles.
