The Trump Presidency: Part 18

No you didn't. The DNC pre-annointed Clinton long before the primaries. She would never have been running in the first place if the DNC had any clue to how unpopular she was outside the bubble of the people most likely to participate in the Convention.

Just like in 2008. Bernie just lost and is a terrible candidate because he is a lousy lawmaker and politician. He is an activist playing at being a lawmaker.

Lindsey Graham flat-out refused to read the testimony before the House, and now he flat-out refuses to watch the hearings.

Trump Tweets

“Millions of Americans will see what a partisan sham this whole thing is.” Rush Limbaugh @foxandfriends
Also, why is corrupt politician Schiff allowed to hand over cross examination to a high priced outside lawyer. Did that lawyer ever work for me, which would be a conflict?

The Democrats have stacked the deck against President Trump and the Republicans. They have leaked out everything.

“Nancy Pelosi cares more about power than she does about principle. She did not want to go down this road. She realizes this is a huge loser for Democrats. The Founders envisioned the worst people being in politics, yet they couldn’t envision this. You have these people taking...

...the most powerful tool the legislative branch has, Impeachment, & they’ve turned it into a political cudgel, which is not at all what the Founders intended. When you hear Schiff use all these words like quid pro quo, it is because they can’t specify that Donald Trump broke..

....any laws or did anything wrong, and they have to move away from quid pro quo because there was no quid, and there was no quo. Ukraine got it’s money (3 weeks early), and there was no investigation.”
@CharlesHurt @foxandfriends

NEVER TRUMPERS!

trump retweeted masses of stuff all supporting him from various senators and the GOP.

Not going to bother posting all of them but a 'taste' follows

Trump Retweeted

The White House
@WhiteHouse
"They're trying to stop me, because I'm fighting for you. And I'll never let that happen." — President @realDonaldTrump
New hoax. Same swamp.

House Republicans
@HouseGOP
Adam Schiff just claimed he doesn't know the whistleblower's identity.
He deliberately mislead the public about his office's connection with the whistleblower and reportedly knew about the complaint before it was filed.

Oversight Committee Republicans
@GOPoversight
FACT CHECK: Neither Ambassador Taylor nor George Kent have first-hand knowledge of a quid pro quo from the President.
We must hear from the whistleblower.

Kevin McCarthy
@GOPLeader
This  is  a  sham
→ Democrats are refusing access to important witnesses.
→ The President's legal counsel is not allowed in the room.
→ Chairman Adam Schiff controls everything.

Lee Zeldin
@RepLeeZeldin
Schiff isn’t even trying to hide it. He is the prosecutor, judge, jury, witness coach & lead story teller of this kangaroo court. He’ll burn the whole house down to take POTUS out. Charges don’t actually matter. Facts don’t actually matter. Evidence doesn’t actually matter.

I see the GOP is in full reality-shaping mode now.

Even for die-hard conservatives, it's hard to understand why any honest person would still support that party.

Linciln must be spinning in his grave.

The latest in right-wing apologetics courtesy of Jim Geraghty (National Review):

Yeah, this was a quid pro quo, Trump can’t distinguish between personal and national interest, and he lies constantly. But you can’t be shocked when Republicans don’t see “take steps to put Democrats in charge of everything” as the right correction.

Pence taking over means Democrats control everything?

Idiots responding with “Pence is a Dem?” are too lazy to click through and read.

It's all about power:

Trump-skeptical conservative: So in your view, “doing the right thing” just happens to end up with your side getting everything you want, and I get nothing I want.

Democrat: Why yes, but that’s just coincidental.

It's unclear how Democrats get everything they want with a President Pence. It's also not unresasonable to believe that the political party responsible for enabling Trump's criminal wrong-doing deserves to lose power. If we had an informed electorate, voters woiuld impose such a fate.

I took a look at the article (well I assume it was the same article since you didn't post a link).

https://www.nationalreview.com/corner/the-not-so-persuasive-sales-pitch-for-impeachment/

His argument isn't that the Democrats would "get everything they want" immediately after the impeachment. He is suggesting that the political fallout in the future (multiple republican congressmen face losing the 2020 senate election, the possibility of a divided republican party causing them to lose the 2020 presidental election) will result in the Democrats in control of both congress and the white house post-2020, allowing them to roll back Trump's actions.

So, his argument seem to be "put up with illegal activities because you get some benefit at the end".

To be honest, parts of it almost seem to be a parody of the republican talking points.

Your post made me curious, so I read the article.

I'd say that's a fair assessment. The author thinks it's ridiculous to put one's party at a disadvantage just to do the right thing.

Party over country articulated in the purest way really.

Several posts discussing Democratic Party candidates have been moved to the candidate tracker thread, where they are more likely to be on topic than in this thread. Please focus your posts in this thread on the Trump Presidency.

Possibly. Or he really does think that the republicans should 'do the right thing', but he is being so subtle in his satire and mockery that it doesn't really come across.
