On the Trump Foundation front - Trump used money raised for vets as campaign slush fund.

Just think about that for a second. Trump had to admit it: Crooked Donald pretended to hold a fundraiser for veterans, but then took the money for his campaign. He stole from our veterans. And he admitted it.

You might not remember it now, but that fundraiser was an incredibly important move by the Trump campaign at the time. He had announced that he was skipping the last GOP debate before the Iowa caucuses, which was being held on Fox News. He didn’t want to face Megyn Kelly a second time, after the, ahem, bad “blood” that had flowed between them in a previous Fox News debate.

Skipping the debate was making Trump look small and weak, but the announcement that he was going spend his time raising money for our veterans instead of going to the debate changed the narrative. One headline read: “Trump: While they debated, we raised $6M for vets.” At least that’s what the thief-in-chief claimed at the time:

It's really not hard to notice a pattern here when it comes to Trump and charity.
 
You know my coworker described Prez Trump as a nationalist. I didn't even think that was a thing. Let me wiki that. Actually that is what Trump calls it. It's not really a thing. We have White supremacist, KKK and the like but not Nationalist in Amerikaka. That's just a cover.

The call to the Ukrainian President was PERFECT. Read the Transcript! There was NOTHING said that was in any way wrong. Republicans, don’t be led into the fools trap of saying it was not perfect, but is not impeachable. No, it is much stronger than that. NOTHING WAS DONE WRONG!

This is being eroded by increasing use of "did not refuse the pro-forma resignation they offered during the transition" type shenanigans, however. It's been death of a thousand cuts under this administration by adding on a healthy lumping of "did not fill the position that got left open." Essentially our government is being gutted by simply not acting at all.

That may be the only 'good' thing to come out of the Trump presidency. It's made it painfully clear just how much of the way the US government was run depended on unwritten rules and gentlemen's agreements, all depending on the major political parties being willing to put a functioning government ahead of temporary political gain.

Err... just to be clear, nationalism really is a thing. To borrow from Orwell, though...

Yeah, though, that's not Trump. Trump's all about personal benefit and only the national benefit when he sees it as a means to personal benefit. When you hear nationalist from the increasingly mainstream right, of course, it's more in line with the Nationalism of the National Socialist Party, much as they'll generally try to deny that with the red herring of a fact that they don't want the more socialistic elements of national socialism (ever worth keeping distinct from the notably different democratic socialism, incidentally).

Nikki Haley has written that former S of S Tillerson and C. of Staff Gen. Kelly tried to "recruit" her to "undermine" Trump. They feared for the country because Trump didn't know what he was doing and that 'people would die' if he wasn't kept in check.

This shows just how worried even the highest cabinet members were about Trump. That in itself is telling and just how bad it is. I do wonder if Tillerson or Kelly is "Anonymous".

In the strictest sense, a nation is "the people of...", an ethno-cultural form of identity, rather than a land mass, country, or government.

Whereas in Europe there is still strong nationalist sentiment held by persons wherever they may happen to reside (this may intersect with notions of a traditional home territory, but I digress), in America "national" seems to refer to the dominant culture only.

Trump's instability and inability to understand the consequences of his stupidity, has cost lives.

If there's nothing there, why are you (Trump) trying to to shut everyone up? That's the most obvious.

What's your (Trump's) version of your supposed legitimate corruption investigation and why would you extort Zelensky rather than having the proper authorities investigate?

Trump can't explain anything because there's no excuse for his behavior except obsessive* corruption. IMO: seems he felt the need to project his own corruption onto Biden.


*I say obsessive because he could have simply pointed out Hunter's curious jobs.
 
I don’t think Trump is a Nationalist, at least as far as US Nationalism goes - he’s just playing that role to feed his narcissism.

I honestly believe that if he thought he could get more praise and adulation in Russia, he’d be there extolling “Russia First” in a heartbeat.

As an aside, I see little difference between “America First” and “Deutschland Über Alles”. Both have the potential to turn malignant - and one already did.
