Speaker making a statement and totally schooling the Gov- the faces of the Conservative Gov benches are stony.

He has said, ‘Today’s motion is the same as Saturday’s and the motion, cannot be debated as it would be repetitive and disorderly to do so.’

Bernard Jenkin to John Bercow: "It is remarkable how often you please one lot and not the other."

Sarcastic cries of "oooh!" in the chamber as Jenkin warns that his committee will look into the role of the Speaker

Or it might be remarkable how often one lot fail to put forward actions that clear the most basic rules of order.

This is petulant whining along the lines of, "you are making my embarrassment unavoidably apparent!"

And of course its followed up with threats to change the role of Speaker. Johnson really thinks he should able to set policy by twitter like his buddy Trump.

No one remembers where this tradition originated, but every year it attracts many tourists from all over the world."

I take it you mean cleaned up.

I expect Brexit to fail because it is natural justice.
Currently it is 5 to 1 for another referendum to reverse this extraordinary hoax.
I have remortgaged the house for a large slice of this action.

I'd like to see some evidence for this ridiculous claim, not least because you also claim that you have an inerrant TA algorithm and so you should be simply rolling in money.

Bercow pointed out that Rees-Mogg praised his rejection of May’s attempts at repeated presentation of her agreement saying that it was completely consistent with Erskine May. Mogg is thus 'hoist by his own petard'.

:D

It appears that Johnson's leave agreement is going to be hit with many amendments and fall foul of the Speaker for being too similar to what has been voted on before.

So, just like May then. Groundhog Day is now set in London.

With a groundhog named Picadilly Phil?

The tradition is, the Prime Minister puts a meaninglessful vote to the House, which as per protocol is voted down. He or she then has to make an early morning flight to Berlin to beg seek a new deal with an Angela Merkel lookalike. The origin of the tradition is lost in the mists of time but when the PM arrives on the red carpet, there is no sign of Merkel to greet him or her, so the PM has to shuffle and kick his or her heels for a while as officials race inside to find the host, who then appears (she was there all the time peeking out of the window but thought it would be a laugh to pretend to be out).

After returning empty handed, the PM next makes an appearance at Brussels having taken the overnight Eurostar train. Custom holds the PM should be wearing a hideous pale blue anorak that looks like a sleeping bag and indeed, the PM should look as though he or she has just got out of bed. The EU leader should lurch towards the PM as though inebriated and flick his or her hair a few times in greeting.

The PM should then confront this sop after having the deal ceremoniously turned down, with a handbag. The finale of the custom is to make the British PM sit alone outside whilst the rest of the EU leaders enjoy a bally good banquet and joke about the Brits.

A Macron-lookalike traditionally adds insult to injury by gesturing at the empty space in the group photo in which the British PM is missing.

This follows the Judeo-Christianity tradition of reenacting Biblical scenes during the year, such as Palm Sunday to start Holy Week. Parades of tourists reenact the arrival of the British PM in Berlin and Brussels by lining the streets and shouting in a coarse Beth Rigby-style, 'Will you get a deal, Prime Minister?'

I've seen this quoted a lot over the last day, but nobody seems to mention that it's almost word-for-word identical to a tweet from a couple of months ago about parliament voting on May's deal.

It's slightly worrying that the country only seems to have realised yesterday that it is now going to require customs paperwork (or equivalent) to send things from NI to GB and vice versa.

But isn't it ever thus (both here and across the pond)?

In order to get difficult legislation through, the government gives insufficient time for proper scrutiny. Of course sometimes it's the government that ends up with egg on its face.

There is absolutely no reason to have to rush this through other than saving face for Boris. It's pure politics and playing with the country's future for the sake of electioneering.

It's infuriating how little of a **** anyone in power actually seems to give about doing the right thing anymore.
