From the Idaho Statesman, grassroots reporting on the move by House Republicans to censure Schiff.
Idaho U.S. Rep. Russ Fulcher has joined about 90 of his GOP colleagues in calling for the condemnation and censure of House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff due to his actions during the impeachment inquiry into President Donald J. Trump. Fulcher is a co-sponsor of House Resolution 604, which calls out Schiff, a Democrat from California, for his characterization of Trump’s phone call with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky. During a Sept. 26 hearing, Schiff paraphrased Trump’s conversation with the Ukrainian leader, which lead to an outcry from some Republicans. Link

One of the GOP's main talking points is a New York Times article reporting Schiff’s committee staff met with the whistleblower prior to the filing of his complaint. Ironically, one of the few times conservative Republicans have unquestioningly accepted something reported by the Times! They also condemn Schiff for concealing his dealings "with the whistleblower from the rest of the Intelligence Committee, and when asked directly in a television interview whether he had any contact with the whistleblower, he lied to the American people and said, ‘We have not spoken directly with the whistleblower.’”

It looks at first glance that House Republicans are right, that Schiff should have been more forthcoming. In fact last Sunday on the CBS News show "Face the Nation," Schiff admitted as much:
MARGARET BRENNAN: Quickly, do you regret saying that we, the committee, weren't in touch with the whistleblower?

REP. SCHIFF: I should have been much more clear and I said so the minute it was brought to my attention that I was referring to the fact that when the whistleblower filed the complaint, we had not heard from the whistleblower. We wanted to bring the whistleblower in at that time. But I should've been much more clear about that. Link

It seems to me that the real game plan here is for Republicans to shift the focus from Trump to Schiff. To use Schiff as a counter to criticism about Trump's actions regarding Ukraine. Example:

  • Q. You don't think Trump was trying to manipulate the Ukrainian president, dangling the military aid in exchange for dirt on the Bidens?
  • A. I think what Adam Schiff has done, lying to both his colleagues and the American people, I think that is despicable.

Of course, Schiff didn't do a damn thing wrong. Perhaps you could say he said a few things that were questionable, but this is a desperate attempt at diversion as you have noted.

In fairness, the real problem is Schiff's obvious paraphrasing of maybe the most widely read memorandum in American history, not the president's behavior.

There's that hoary old bit of legal wisdom: If the facts are on your side, pound the facts. If the law is on your side, pound the law. If neither the facts nor the law are on your side, pound the table.

Yeah. Kruschev did it with a shoe. The bizarre part of Kruschev's theatrics was he was wearing both his shoes while he was doing it.

Crooked Hillary Clinton just called the respected environmentalist and Green Party candidate, Jill Stein, a “Russian Asset.” They need a Green Party more than ever after looking at the Democrats disastrous environmental program!

"Disastrous" in that they actually have one, as opposed to the current administration's policy of "Do whatever you want. We don't care."

Pretty sure there were several House impeachment votes, long before the idea had legs. I think they were mostly for show. In any case, things have changed quite dramatically since then, so bringing up those prior votes to imply there’s no support now is idiotic.
It's not idiotic if it's said in a serious tone of voice by a Fox opinionator.

.....
Trump in the last month seems to be making a concerted effort to get himself impeached.
....

Trump literally thinks he is above and beyond the laws and common traditions. You've heard him say "Article II" allows him to do whatever he wants. And he knows the Repub Senate won't remove him.

Unless they can have a secret ballot. A MSNBC commentator today claimed that it would only take five Republican senators to join the Democrats in insisting on a secret vote. If that happens, Trump is gone.

Corrupt Congressman Adam Schiff is angry that Ambassadors that he thought would be good for his fraudulent Witch Hunt, are turning out to be good for me - some really good! He’s got all meetings locked down, no transparency, only his illegal leaks. A very dishonest sleazebag!

“Because the House has already voted against the Impeachment Proceeding, the current inquiry is totally invalid. The current sham of a so-called investigation is nothing more than an unconstitutional power grab. It needs to end.” @JasonChaffetz @seanhannity
Corrupt Adam Schiff

Congressman Michael McCaul, “Schiff’s inquiry defies Democracy.” @FoxNews @seanhannity

Pelosi and Impeachment - There have already been 3 Votes, and they’ve all failed miserably. Here’s why there may not be a fourth - 137 Democrats voted against on the last vote.” @JasonChaffetz @seanhannity
Many of those voting in favor will be beaten in 2020!

Where is this, the House voted, coming from?
