The Trump Presidency: Part 17

I'm starting to wonder if Schiff, intentionally or not, might have made a brilliant move with his Trump parody, as it snares Trump's focus to something completely irrelevant.

He's a strategic genius and we know that because he re-tweeted someone who said he is. This is all part of his master plan to disengage the US from the Middle East whilst bringing peace to the region.

A man who defeated ISIS in days (despite his generals saying that it could take years) is a force to be reckoned with and can surely square this geopolitical square. Doing the "unthinkable" (like bombing your own abandoned bases) is an example of the kind of innovation that President Trump brings to the situation.

Only Nixon could improve Sino-American relationships by visiting China. Only Trump can achieve peace in the Middle East by abandoning his Kurdish allies and bombing his own bases. ;)

I find it amusing that whoever wrote this Tweet for Trump realized that the people reading it might not know what "fabricate" means in this context.
Don't think that is the case. You hear him saying similar things in his public utterances. It's an indication that the word or term is new to Trump so of course he acts as if that means it is new to everyone else as he cannot comprehend other people may be different to him.

Why use the word fabricate, in that case?

I've seen it reported that the tweets that are written for Trump are all run by him. Some he approves and just go out, while he alters others. If this is true, then it's conceivable that the original text didn't have the explanation, and Trump had that added in.

I did read an article this morning in which either he or a White House spokesperson said that withdrawing from Syria had actually made the Kurds safer.

Pelosi looks small and weak. Trump could easily take her out with his giant hands.

Democrats are leaking exchanges at the meet, but failing to understand that Trump got the better of them.

At one point Schumer said, "Is your plan to rely on the Syrians and the Turks?"

Trump: "Our plan is to keep the American people safe"

Pelosi: "That's not a plan. That's a goal."

He really has got the best words.

This is from the White House transcript, remarks Donnie made at the news conference welcoming the president of Italy:

Good grief, he's losing it!

.

Wow, that's high-grade word salad, there. Moreso than usual.

Wait, what? I thought it was satire.

Trump Tweets

Hope all House Republicans, and honest House Democrats, will vote to CENSURE Rep. Adam Schiff tomorrow for his brazen and unlawful act of fabricating (making up) a totally phony conversation with the Ukraine President and U.S. President, me. Most have never seen such a thing!

Wow, the White House released a fake conversation!

I sincerely hope that is a fake!

Hans

it really is not.

I particularly like his "I got a secret letter from him, I'm sending you a copy, but don't tell anyone" thing.
Really makes other leaders trust you with their correspondence .

You'd think that *somebody* in the GOP might think that such a thing might be an issue. Even if it isn't sending a copy of a confidential letter to a murderous despot (we've all done that in our time :o), but then allowing the admission of such to be leaked surely is beyond the pale.

New York Times are reporting that Plenty of Republicans publicly oppose Trump on Syria, and that a resolution was passed in Congress with a large majority of Republicans signing condemning Trump's Syria policy. They also report that Trump got in a heated argument with Lindsey Graham during a meeting.

It seems that the destruction of US foreign policy and standing in the world has reached such a critical point that cowardly Goopers finally feel that they need to say something. Haven't seen any indication that it goes further than mere words, but if Trump can be made to feel alone and abandoned he might alienate even more people.

Sure, they'll pass nonbinding Notices of Frowning at You, but when needed they'll fall in line. Lindsey Graham is probably the biggest hypocrite involved; he's always offered nothing but criticism and unwavering support.

I think Republicans have been told by their Israeli contacts that Trump's kowtowing to Turkey will not work for them.
Trump's willingness to just drop everything and withdraw emboldens Israel's enemies.

As per the Guardian article linked to by zooterkin, it wasn't exactly leaked. He himself handed out copies in the meltdown meeting with Pelosi and co. to show how tough he had been with Erdogan.

Gosh. I should have read the linked article :o

In which case, why isn't this more of an issue ? Or are the GOP going to blame the Democrats attending the meeting for leaking the letter ?

Also, as far as being tough on Erdogan, that's some pretty weak sauce from President Trump.
