I mean, it's so obviously untrue, that it almost seems a waste of time for anyone to follow up on it. But it really would be nice if someone could actually nail him down on these things. It's a phenomena that is by no means limited to Trump, and happens all the time about all sorts of things, but it gets quite depressing when major figures can just basically make facts up.

Of course, and the segment pretty much began with that detail.

The strategy is transparent. For instance there’s plenty plenty of evidence of Trump obstructing justice in Part 2 of the Mueller report. Rather than deal with that, deflect with investigation about how the report was initiated. Which has nothing to do with the findings. The same strategy is in play with the whistleblower’s account.

We had a long drive yesterday. Every couple of hours we tune in the news at the top of the hour, usually on CNN. We did so at 5P. After about 10 minutes of the same stuff about the second whistleblower and the impeachment inquiry and abandoning the Kurds, Karen suggested we see what Fox News was covering. It was “The Five”, about my least favorite block. At first they were mocking both whistleblowers, saying that trotting out one after another was what had happened to Kavanaugh. The next segment was about how Elizabeth Warren’s accounts of the end of her teaching career had changed over time, working in digs on Biden as well. About 10 minutes of that and we were both ready for music!

Under interrogation: “Mr. President, could you please define treason for us, and show how Senator Schiff’s actions meet the definition?”

“Mr. President, you’ve said that China is paying billions of dollars in tariffs into the US Treasury. Could you please show us some evidence of specific tariff payments made by the Chinese government to the US Treasury?”

But that will never happen. Best we can hope for is to get him under oath in a court of law some time in the future. It would please me greatly to have his web of lies exposed in full display.

I think trump's lawyers know better than to ever allow that to happen. trump is a disaster under those conditions because, I think, he doesn't think he needs to prepare. Google videos of him in depositions... it's mind boggling.

If the reporting is true, the only people who knew about the decision were Trump and the Turks. There are French and British troops in Syria. They woke up to see American troops exiting stage left.

According to a source who was in on the conversation, Trump was spineless and he was rolled by Erdoğan. I'll bet that conversation went to the deep freeze server.

I’ve frequently heard people say that any story President Trump tells that includes someone calling him sir is almost certainly a lie. I never put much faith in that theory. I am now rethinking my position.
