Well Sir, I did know you would find an exception to grass roots efforts.

Yes, some things need to be hit at a political level to be stopped. It's a given.

No, I’m saying do both, but if you want to see quick and decisive change look at Germany.

You are not going to get away with your evasion that easily.

Here’s what SG said:

Your response:

Good trick that, but leaving aside this impossibility, you were asked to cite such a movement.

Crickets.
Yes

The climate change movement has been going on since they were calling it global warming.

More evasion.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Climate_movement

"The climate movement has rapidly evolved in the first decades of the 21st century, starting as one of the many causes of the environmental movement.

Activism related to climate change began in the 1990s, when major environmental organizations became involved in the discussions about climate, mainly in the UNFCCC framework. In the 2000s several climate-specific organizations were founded, such as 350.org, Energy Action Coalition, and the Global Call for Climate Action."

Edit: Apologies again. Corrected poster quote

I'm thinking you'll have to wait longer than that.

All the kids that are responding to her message are gonna have to go back to class, and graduate, and get jobs... Some of them are gonna have to get elected to high office... Some are gonna have to raise millions of dollars in campaign funds and lobbying... Some are going to have to join think tanks, and write policy papers, etc. It's going to be quite a few years, I think, before Thunberg's audience is in a position to make a change.

They will have to do away with a system based on lobbying, campaign funds, raising millions of dollars, i.e. with a system where people with money buy the policies they want implemented and the 'think tanks' that legitimate those policies:
'I want to be able to buy what's best, screw the rest. Who cares about the rising sea levels? I have a yacht!'

So instead of school strikes get those kids into more school to become the generation that stops the damage, intelligently. Teach them to become the scientists and engineers that make an eco friendly future.

If the political systems if now can't or won't, those of the future can and should once they have the technology to replace what we use now.

It is obviously not a lack of science when 97% of scientists know what's going on. Scientists decide nothing. People who pay scientists and politicians get to decide as long as the rest of the population, including scientists, let them do so.

If schooling is so effective, how come we're in this mess to begin with?

Ask the Koch brothers, the fossil fuel industry, the car industry.

Remember: The generations that got us into this mess are the same generations that preside over the schools you're talking about.

Generations don't get anybody into any mess. Generations don't decide anything. Capitalism does, as long as we let it. The generation of the Koch brothers doesn't influence the decisions they make. Their investments (i.e. capital) do.

If you really want to pin blame on it with capitalism you should go the whole hog really and blame people from about 8000 years ago who used charcoal to make metal they could sell......If it helps your point.

Selfish ******* !

Perhaps ISF should do its bit for the Climate Change Campaign by getting Rule 12 put into international law?

I think that politicians would ever pass it.

The majority make a living out of breaking Rule 12

If she's right why all the fuss. She has got the schoolkids engaged.

Personally don't have any apart from the preaching catastrophe to kids.

That and I just personally find the way she comes across as irritating.

I think your major problem with school kids thing is they can't vote and by the time they can make any viable changes, most of them will not be as into it any more.

Working etc

Like every other generation.

Especially in 11 years when they find out that 11 years wasn't the cutting point to us not stopping catastrophe
