Greta Thunberg - brave campaigner or deeply disturbed?

I noticed that at the recent EU parliamentary elections the Greens had big successes in several countries, especially in Germany where they topped all records. But not in Sweden where they shrunk. Do our resident Swedes think there is a connection between the Greta family and that result? Or am I evil for even asking that question?:D

Just to put data to the claim, in Sweden the Greens shrunk from 15.41% in the previous parliament to 11.62% in the current one. While Greens in the whole EU parliament have risen from 6.66% to 9.85%.

When did you stop beating your wife?

The difference is that you are expressly denying that doctors were the ones who gave Thunberg her diagnosis, as opposed to her parents.

I was in my local bookshop today cashing in a gift voucher. As I was paying, I noticed, there on the counter, a tiny little book by Greta Thunberg. I picked it up to skim through it and I was rather surprised how short it was, in very simple language and large font.

Clearly she is a big industry.

Not 'just a random school girl'.

A brand.

Why do you hate Greta Thunberg so much? Or her parents or whatever? Is it because people are paying attention to her and not to you? Maybe we can analyse this some more.

BTW, which book was it? Was it the one that collected the speeches she has given? I find it rather wonderful that speeches by a 16 year old girl are being preserved for posterity.

Come on, one of two Swedes posting here, answer my question. The other one will just scream "Putin!" again, so it's on you to represent your country in a responsible way.

If you look at Swedish general elections you will see that the % of votes for the Greens has been falling since 2010.

Since Greta has only been in the news for the past year I doubt it has anything whatsoever to do with her. Unless she began her protesting when she was 6 or 7.

This is something you could have looked up yourself, but decided to sow your usual nonsense.

The same tired ********.

One of my two optional specialist psychology topics was Child Psychology.

I may not be an expert but I have studied it.
So you should understand the procedures for, and difficulties in, ASD diagnoses. You just ignore them when it suits you.

ISTM Greta's mother is a pop psychlogist as she believes Greta's passion for climate change is heightened because of her [long list] of conditions.
Evidence?

IOW Andrew Bolt is only really quoting Thunberg's own mother.
Eh, no. He's making stuff up to suit his views and audience.
Rather like you.

Except he doesn't think it sweet.
So?

German and other Greens had hard times as well. But with Greta they shined in 2019. The Swedish Greens failed. Like your deflection.

Exactly.

3point14's concern about her message here:

Is entirely beside the point of the thread. We already stipulate her message. We've already been debating her message here for years.

This thread, is explicitly intended to be a discussion of the person, not of her message.

Who died and made you king of thread drift?

I find this approach deeply disturbing. Adults who are having trouble convincing other adults through rational debate should probably not exploit their positions of trust to indoctrinate children to debate on their behalf. Regardless of the cromulence of the message being indoctrinated.

Indoctrinated? Into believing scientific facts and ******** herself that the world she knows won't last her lifetime?

"Indoctrinated" is now the word we use when people have been educated is it?

This sort of ******** scare tactic is beneath you.

Clearly I've been "Indoctrinated" into believing the world is round*

(*Okay, an oblate spheroid - pedants)

The german greens spiked in 2009, dropped in '13, and went up again in '17.
This is not the same trajectory the Swedish greens have taken.

So bollocks.

ETA:
Or how about the French?
National assembly saw them go up in 2012, down in 2017.
The European elections saw them drop from 16.3% to 9%!
Blimey, is Greta secxretly French?

No...it's just your usual nonsense.

No it was a little booklet. Not even value for money considering how little is in it. (£2.99).

I love Greta. I think she's great. However, I hate that she is being exploited by pushy parents.

The Finnish Greens did stormingly well (Haavisto) and now have seats in the government. Finland is the first country in the world to commit to neutral CO2 emissions by 2035. (Although the UK tried to claim it was the first.)

Second only to the SDP.

What went wrong in Sweden?

Try to focus. This is 2019. EU parliamentary elections, a good two months ago, remember?
