Nothing is being misrepresented.

You explicitly referred to Omar as an illegal immigrant:

Yeah, unless ThePrestige was just quoting a post referring to congress people to pop in with a complete non msequitar about illegal immigrants that was not part of the original comment, it's clear.

Moving on?

I have yet to see any trumper apologist honestly address any part of the original comment. They prefer the "love it or leave it" rewrite.

You missed the point completely.

But then, a straightforward explanation of what begging the question means is to you a "pretzel", so perhaps it's not surprising.

Yes I know, everyone always misses your points.

Couldn't possibly be that we don't think you made a reasonable one.

How is that relevant to the question of whether it’s racist to tell Omar to go back home?

It's interesting to note the reason one is required under oath to tell the truth, the whole truth and nothing but the truth is because only stating part of the truth is exactly the same as lying.

Twitter feed President Trump:

"So interesting to see “Progressive” Democrat Congresswomen, who originally came from countries whose governments are a complete and total catastrophe, the worst, most corrupt and inept anywhere in the world (if they even have a functioning government at all), now loudly......

....and viciously telling the people of the United States, the greatest and most powerful Nation on earth, how our government is to be run. Why don’t they go back and help fix the totally broken and crime infested places from which they came. Then come back and show us how....

....it is done. These places need your help badly, you can’t leave fast enough. I’m sure that Nancy Pelosi would be very happy to quickly work out free travel arrangements!"

If one has nothing more than lies and partial truth to support a chosen philosophy, isn't it time to question as to exactly what one stands for?

It is being very generous to say that Trump was only talking about Omar and not also the natural-born US citizens as well.

Is it racist to tell a non-white native citizen to go back where they came from? Hell yes.

It's not generous to read a "if the shoe fits" statement. It's normal comprehension of the English language.

Skin color is irrelevant to all but those with a chip on their shoulder. Crying "racist" will not put a Democrat in the Oval Office in 2020 regardless of what MSNBC and CNN tries to sell. Speaking of which both have fallen off the ratings cliff since the failed Russian hoax narrative they tried to sell. How 'bout that apple now......

How about we ignore the people who claim Trump's statement wasn't racist? They are either dumb or lying.

It's funny, but the post in which ChrisBFRPKY quotes Trump's tweets totally made me think that s/he was making the point that what Trump actually said was much more awful than what right-wingers have been defending him as saying. Then I read on, and was quite astonished to find out that s/he thought that that post offered a defence of those supporters, seemingly unaware that the supporters are lying by omission by focusing only on Omar, and that all these pro-Trump arguments offered in defence have been based on lies and partial truths.

Funny old world.

In a plain reading, Trump said these four elected Congresswomen have no right "telling the people of the United States... how our government is to be run" because of their horrible countries of origin. As Seth Meyer aptly put it after reading the tweet, "Now that sounds racist..." and waited a few seconds before everyone realized there wasn't going to be a "but."

Your "but" is that he didn't mention skin color? Really?

Skin color is irrelevant to all but those with a chip on their shoulder.
For people who
  • experience discrimination because of their skin color,
  • support victims of discrimination based on skin color, and
  • advocate for no discrimination because of skin color,
skin color is quite relevant.

Beat me to it, and more concisely - thanks.

I will add that there is also simple racist violence. The victims of Dylan Roof, for example were killed because they were black. It is not racist to point out when racism was a factor in a crime, or encouragement for a crime.
