Moderated Trump announces new concentration camps

Also, "Europe is doing bad things and Liberals think that Europe is a utopia that the US should emulate in every way, so why are you complaining when the US does similar bad things? It's what you wanted."

Some liberals think Scandinavian countries are well run (hardly utopias) and the US should emulate them in social and economic policies as well as general democratic rules. As it happens, there are no concentration camps in any Scandinavian country.

In Sweden, we have trouble managing adequate housing for refugees. This was especially so during the peak in 2015. We built small apartments using pre-fab modules in order to house people. It was rough living for sure - 30 square meters or so for a family. Not terribly well insulated houses either, so it got a bit cold in the winter.

However, we didn't withhold soap, toothpaste and other basic necessities, we did not separate children from their parents and we put nobody in a cage.

Talk of Let's sit down and enjoy a variety of dinnerplates does not last long when reality is brought in. What we are seeing as the climate and global systems crumble is a surge in Every Man For Himself across the planet, and Nice Wise and Mature Europe is no exception.

Another rationalization. I'm wicked shocked right now.

It's as if he's saying it's a natural law or something that we have to go fascist when times get rough. Weird rationalization, but I suppose it must be hard to find something tangible to cling to over on the right fringe.

That's what did catch me as funny in that statement. It was the weirdest form of "chicken littling" I've ever seen.

"The climate is crumbling. Instead of banding together to help fight this issue, lets be ******** to everyone that isn't you, specifically." - paraphrased, and I know he was just saying "Europe is doing it, why shouldn't we"

I'll pass. How about we do our best to help everyone get through this in hopes that future generations won't have to ******* have the ******* argument about why we should be ******* decent to people?

..... the liberal narrative that every refugee is a Rocket Surgeon that is far better than the citizens of the country they are heading to come crashing down.

This is like the 8th or 10th fictional theme that you have introduced here. Do you have any evidence at all for any of this nonsense? It's making you look really, really bad here.

https://www.ft.com/content/022de0a4-54f4-11e7-9fed-c19e2700005f

There was an element of truth to it, but ultimately that was a drop in the bucket. As well as that, the spike in refugees is tied to austerity.

Your claim:
...the liberal narrative that every refugee is a Rocket Surgeon that is far better than the citizens of the country they are heading to come crashing down.

My Request:
Do you have any evidence at all for any of this nonsense?

Your response:

First link:
Most refugees to be jobless for years, German minister warns

Second Link:
Study: telling white people they’ll be outnumbered makes them hate welfare more

:nope:

I was asking about the claim that I quoted to you. It's above as well. Here in all caps - THE LIBERAL NARRATIVE THAT EVERY REFUGEE IS A ROCKET SURGEON THAT IS FAR BETTER THAN THE CITIZENS OF THE COUNTRY THAT THEY ARE HEADED TO. In my opinion, this is a straw man, a work of fiction. Would you care to provide evidence otherwise?

No, you just subcontract that part to either North African Warlords or the Mediterranean. Meanwhile, the Swedish Far Right got 3rd place in the last election, and the government moved further right on the topic.

Meanwhile, I don't see "And then everybody pulled together as one!" happening. Trump is already normalising "Every Man For Himself!" instead of paying lip service to "let's work together!" like his predecessors

It reminds me of the people I've seen ask atheists "What's stopping you from robbing, raping, and killing if you don't believe in God?", implying that the fear of divine punishment is the only thing keeping them from going on a spree. They feel better about themselves if they assume that everyone else is just as messed up as they are but just won't admit it.

Wayfair employees are upset with the company and planning a walk out after learning the company sold 3000 beds for a new immigrant detention facility in Texas.

https://amp.cnn.com/cnn/2019/06/25/business/wayfair-walkout-detention-camps-trnd/index.html

I get not wanting to support the detention centers nor the companies running them but the reality is that not selling them beds just means more children sleeping on concrete floors.

I feel like the employees really didn't think this through.

Hey, we're getting closer to you facing reality. Here you're almost where the rest of us are when we say Trump is the stupid ******* that's making this whole thing worse.

That's about the closest damn thing to a Trump supporter admitting Trump's the problem I've seen. Good on ya bud!

Since this board insists that Everything was Hunky Dory on the Unstoppable March to progress until Evil Evil Drumpfler came along and started firing up the Crematoria, I just wanted to show that it was not the case. The Liberal Consensus is more of an historical aberration than anything else. Modi was elected before Trump, The Tories won in 2015 by moving right to chase UKIP Voters which led to Brexit, Duterte was elected in the Philippines. Trump is just the tipping point for a decaying and crumbling system. Liberalism is bleeding out, how do you intend to staunch that?

This type of exaggeration does not make your argument stronger. Rather, it makes you appear further and further detached from reality the more it goes on.

As Carlitos' previous post shows, you're not even able to understand a very basic request for evidence.

Shall I dig up this big Galaxy Brain take?

Again even if what you are saying is 100% true (it isn't, but reality at this point doesn't seem to matter so whatever) it is still sicking that you think that's where this conversation should be at.

So what dead brown kids is just a fair price to pay to knock down the libtards a peg for humping the leg of European countries a little too much?

Even if liberals are just suffering from an obsession with making Trump out to be a monster... the kids aren't dead anymore? They magically have access to soap and toothbrushes?

What are you even arguing with your whataboutism?

My point is, Trump is part of a bigger issue, that we are going back to Every Man For Himself Politics, and it's going to get a LOT worse.

Your point has nothing to do with what anyone is talking about.

And I can't get from "Whine... whine but da liberals got to do it! WHATBOUT THAT! FDR! Trump aint so bad!" that's been you're entire output in this thread to your supposed "point."

Except, takig the wider picture into account means Liberals have to confront the fact that Trump did not spring out of the ground and start firing up the Crematoria, and that Mass migration does not lead to everyone sitting down and enjoying a variety of ethnic foods.

You know if you think all of these questions have to be answered or even addressed before you can give a simple "Keeping kids in cages is bad" I'm not sure I know what to say.

"Keeping kids in cages is bad" is one of those things I think we should all just be able to agree on without someone adding to it.

It is the Trump administration that loves to conflate legal and illegal immigration, with the expressed goal to reduce the first.

It isn't the "not-right" that likes to keep the issue of migration murky.

That's the other issue. Some people are having the immigration, illegal immigration, and refugee talk all at the same.
