Trump caved with his tariffs in exchange for a promise from both sides not to do anything for 90 days.
Who else besides the Deal Maker could have achieved this?

I would like to thank the President of Mexico, Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, and his foreign minister, Marcelo Ebrard, together with all of the many representatives of both the United States and Mexico, for working so long and hard to get our agreement on immigration completed!
 
How far apart were those two twits? The first sounds like him, the second does not.

Officials told the Times that the central part of Friday's deal, which expanded the program permitting asylum-seekers to remain in Mexico while their claims are processed, was also agreed upon before Friday's announcement. The Times noted that the Migrant Protection Protocols were announced in December by Nielsen during a House Judiciary Committee hearing.


The Times reported that it was not immediately clear whether Trump believes Friday's deal represents new concessions or whether his embrace of the agreement was an attempt to avoid possible negative political and economic ramifications from imposing steep tariffs on Mexico.

Earlier, I predicted that Trump would back down but try to spin it as a 'win' due to his tariff threat. Looks like that's exactly what he's doing. He was faced with the very real possibility of his own party revolting over the tariffs and needed to save face. But now that Mexico's actions (that he forced them to make!) are going to " greatly reduce, or eliminate, Illegal Immigration coming from Mexico", does that mean we don't need his Wall? Crisis/Emergency at the border is over?

Watched MSNBC this morning just to see what the opposition was saying about events of the past week. Such lies, almost everything they were saying was the opposite of the truth. Fake News! No wonder their ratings, along with CNN, are WAY DOWN. The hatred Comcast has is amazing!
 
People are dying in US custody at the border, a Russian ship almost reamed a US Navy vessel, White supremacy is rampant, USA is losing a trade war and he's tweeting about cable news ratings!

About how Trump got to where he was electable to the extent he was.

Too many people are taken in by TV. A "reality TV star" in a sane Universe would be among the lowest of qualifications for leader of a country. Mark Burnett sure created an image of success that belied the hollow emptiness within. That so many folk could buy into it, without the awareness of how TV show production can be and is a grotesque lie, is worrisome.

These same folk probably think such dreck as, e.g., Mantracker, is legit. But all they have to do is break the fourth wall themselves, and picture the crew comprising at least a camera and sound man following our pair of runners. Then ask themselves how incredibly easy must it be for 'Mantracker' to follow 4 people, two of whom are encumbered with equipment.

People need to be aware of what's *not* shown on their screens. TV so-called reality is too often not that.

How better off the world were a significant majority of the populace discerning and skeptical. Heck, how about sentient.

Agreed. But you're forgetting just how stupid so many people are. How else do you explain Here Comes Honey Boo Boo, Keeping Up with the Kardashians, Duck Dynasty, America's Next Top Model, Toddlers and Tiaras, Jersey Shore, etc.?
