FFS, that's implicitly understood by everyone who can tie their own shoelaces, has been for decades.

What they are (pride marches) is a bunch of weirdos who now enjoy the complete protection of the state and law enforcement as they get in people's faces with extremely revealing and provocative clothing while simulating sex (once called 'obscene') acts in organised public events, which people can criticise or object to at their peril.

They are a demonstration of political power.

Twenty years ago, maybe. Now pride parades serve the same function as everything else: a chance for corporations to try to sell stuff. Which is both uplifting and depressing because hooray, we've made it, we are ripe for exploitation just like everybody else.

No, but the organizers of the parade and those sympathetic to them would like you to think so, because they want to draw an equivalence between themselves and LGBT+ in terms of claiming suppression.

Totally, I think it is stupid as hell, and like 6/10 offensive, but let them do it as long as they play by the rules. Laws are for everyone not just people in the right.

People doing otherwise don't realize all they do is force logical people to defend ******** when they try to go all vigilante on them.

IDK, in my experience, when ever I say "nobody would......" there's pretty much always somebody who already has "........".

I so hate it when people get in my face with extremely revealing and provocative clothing. Especially when it's all sweaty; that's just so gross.

True. I think they have outlived their usefulness in bringing public attention to issues.

I hope that momentum for this event doesn't get any legs. The mix of straight advocates and counter-protesters could be a real pressure cooker.
