The Trump Presidency 13: The (James) Baker's Dozen

To be fair, can you name off the top of your head even one thing named after Washington???

So many of President Trump’s statements are gauche in the extreme, but that statement shows an almost unsurpassed level of stupidity. “You've got to put your name on stuff or no one remembers you."

Stable genius.

Remember, Trump was one of the main proponents of the idiotic idea that removing statues honoring the Confederacy would erase history. Perhaps he really is stupid enough to believe that no one will remember anything without a statue or a sign?

He knows how his own memory works. He cannot comprehend any other way.

Trump apparently is abandoning US support for a Two State solution to the Palestinian Problem.
Our only hope now is that Bibi was just talking the piss when he talked about annexing the Occupied Territories.
But if they both are serious. they will set the whole Middle East ablaze in short order.
I always said Trump would start a major war.Sadly, looks as though I am right.

Interesting that elsewhere in the world besides Mar-a-Lago, most of the buildings Trump previously owned and "branded" with his name are having his name removed.

I'm hoping I live long enough to see him buried in an unmarked grave.

No that is not ******* correct.

Did you miss this post?
Thanks for your kind words.

No, I didn't miss your post. I take it, though, that just because Trump and the GOP don't care for the law does not mean the rest of the USA should also seek extrajudicial restitution for Trump's transgressions. Unless that's what you DID mean...?

So. Assuming the rest of the USA DOES decide to follow the law inasmuch as it applies in this situation, would you like to try answering my query for factual information?

Odd that Mar-a-Lago isn't called "Mar-a-Trump" or "Trump-a-Lago" or "Trump-a-Trump" if he's so interested in naming things for himself.

I'm hoping I live long enough to see him buried in an unmarked grave.

He'd poison the soil. It would be like Lovecraft's "Colour Out Of Space" except instead of some unknown alien color it would be regular orange.

I don’t know. I picture him calling a press conference to say, “The Taj Mahal was built by Shah Jahan as a monument to the death of his greatest love, I will build a grand monument, the best monument, because I am the best builder, a grand, grand monument, a tremendously grand monument to honor my greatest love, myself. Many people, many respected people have told me they often wonder how magnificent the Taj Mahal would have looked like if I had built it. Now we’ll know. It is what the people want. A tremendous monument. To me.”

You've caught the cadence and style of Dear Leader's speech very well... captured the essence his "oringes" so to speak.

Have you considered auditioning for SNL?

Every day Trump gets more delusional and more scary.

That's wrong.

Going by many of his previous statements, I fully believe that Trump is not delusional. In fact, I think he is very much aware of what he is doing.

"In the big lie there is always a certain force of credibility; because the broad masses of a nation are always more easily corrupted in the deeper strata of their emotional nature than consciously or voluntarily; and thus in the primitive simplicity of their minds they more readily fall victims to the big lie than the small lie, since they themselves often tell small lies in little matters but would be ashamed to resort to large-scale falsehoods." -Mein Kampf

This has evolved into a popular propaganda technique known as the Big Lie: "People will believe a big lie sooner than a little one; and if you repeat it frequently enough people will sooner or later believe it."

But Trump's tactic is slightly different. Along with the Big Lie, he's also engaged in many, many small lies, lies about things that it wouldn't make sense to lie about for any other reason. A tactic that is sometimes used to keep opponents off-balance, and overwhelmed trying to keep up with the challenges and refutations to his lies. Skeptics who have debated woos, especially creationists, are well-familiar with this tactic, a variant of which is known as the Gish Gallop.

Many things that Trump has said make me believe that this is what he is doing, that he is lying because he knows that his base will believe it, and if they don't, it will still make the truth less believable to them, because it will always come not as a revelation, but as a contradiction to something or someone they already believe it; and it's much harder to change an existing belief than to create a new one. It's a common tactic of fascists and totalitarians, and has been fully embraced by Trump.

Trump lies because he can, because he knows how it plays with his base and against his opponents, and because it makes him feel more powerful and in-control when he does.

I'm not the only one who has made this observation.

Spoke to Bibi @Netanyahu to congratulate him on a great and hard-fought win. The United States is with him and the People of Israel all the way!

Just because Trump consciously lies doesn't exclude him also being delusional. I'm pretty sure there is a mix there.

Our "law-and-order" President is literally telling law enforcement to perform criminal acts. Only in the GOP's America is this a good thing.

As I keep saying, the difference is that a president that calls for "rule of law" is committed to actually following the law, while "law and order" (note the "order" portion) is pulling from Nixon's appeal to white southerners who were angered by the end of Jim Crow, which they saw as an attack on "order". It's natural that the "law and order" president would at least sometimes ignore "law" in favor of what he perceives as the "order" of white supremacism.

Add to that the simple fact that Dolt 45 is a career criminal, and there you go.

Hot rumor is that the purge at HS is because it leaders were not supportive of closing the border.
I hope he does, because it will crash the economy, and sadly I think it is going to take lot of pain to get rid of Trump.

Watch Bibi and Donnie cause the Middle East to blow up.

Without googling

A state
A city
A mountain
A monument
A suburb

Not just a city, but the freaking Capitol of the US.
And quite a few towns, aside from DC, are named after Washington, not to mention counties.

You can throw in one of the Nimitz Class Aircraft Carriers as well.

I wonder if Trumy was aware that George Washington himself chose the name Mt Vernon in honor of his deceased brother?

American History is another topic Donnie is incredibly ignorant of.

I would recommend Donne read Ron Chernow's Pulitizer prize winning biography of Washington,(yes, the Ron Chernow who wrote the biography of Alexander Hamilton that the musical is based upon) but reading a 700 page book is well beyond Donnie's capabilities.
And what is interesting is that Chernow will be one of the speakers at the presidentless White House Correspondents Dinner. I am sure he will have a couple of comments about Trump's visit to Mt Vernon.
BTW Chernow's biography of the guy who is my avatar, published last year, is excellent.

There are at least three sex moves called "the George Washington". And it's a rude way to criticise an exotic dancer by suggesting they only deserve ones.
