It's still bad for Smollett because there is zero chance for him to be acquitted by a jury. There isn't going to be a trial. So he will forever be the guy who wasn't found to be not guilty.

Everyone knows that. Each time he looks at somebody he knows that they know that.

Back in tte 2000's, you had two successive governors in Illinois, both of which went to prison for corruption while in office. One was a Democrat, the other was a Republican. That is Illnois politics in a nutshell.

Actually, what I know is that I never trusted their case against him from the start.

I mean maybe, just listen to me here, maybe we shouldn't just believe the CPD and anyone involved considering their long history of torturing people in black sites to get them to say whatever they want them to say.

You're being kind by only mentioning 2 in a row. At that point, we had 4 of our last 7 governors convicted and jailed including Blagojevich.

If those MAGA rednecks had tossed that bleach in his eyes he could have gone blind.

TMZ reports:

Texts and emails between State Attorney Kim Foxx and two Jussie allies — one of which is reported to be a family member of his — have been leaked, and they show that Foxx was asked to intervene in the case a few days after he’d reported the alleged attack to Chicago PD. It appears that she did exactly that … and kept Jussie’s camp in the loop.

The initial correspondence started when Michelle Obama’s former chief of staff, Tina Tchen, emailed Foxx to say that she was reaching out on behalf of Jussie’s family to express “concerns” they had with how the investigation at that point was being handled.

Jussie had not been charged with a crime yet, but it’s believed Chicago PD was already doubting his story and leaking info to the press pushing that narrative.

Friends in high places...

They are treated very negatively.

Jussie was publicly accused of lying when he was telling the truth. He also had the crap beat out of him by MAGA rednecks.

The Nigerian brothers had their door busted down just for some stamps and a stupid magazine. No, that isn't very positive as far as treating black people goes.

Basically all three of these guys experienced what is known as living while black. It's not a positive thing.

did you forget the 'trainers' are on tape purchasing the rope and stuff?

It's ironic that he has now made himself a black man who has escaped justice via the legal system.

Doesn't he realize what the traditional remedy for that has been in the racist, Nazi, Amerikkka that he would have us all believe we still live in?

Thank goodness it's not really that way, or his wish for victimhood might've come true!

And Chicago just proves again why, when it comes to civic corruption, it sets the standards by which all other cities are judged.

I find that a really good way to reduce corruption and increase civic integrity and accountability is to take a very corrupt city and then make its populace and particularly its leaders and governmental figures increasingly comprised of African-Americans.

Really tends to stem the flow of the corruption, bring it down to a mere drip at most.

If I had to guess, I'd say it's probably their shared history of oppression that has made them have a particularly keen understanding of the importance of civic institutions functioning in a transparent and even-handed way. Also, they have the vast and august body of African law and history to draw upon and let's be honest, more than any other factor it is probably their raw nobility as a people.

What about federal prosecution?

The state might have come up with a slap on the wrist knowing the feds have a case- with possible greater punishment when found guilty. Hence the "deferred prosecution"- it means they "defferred" to the Feds. Fed case comes first. But my comprehension of the English Language is not the same as a lawyers.

Oh great. Get the feds to help the torturers out. That is really what America really needs right now.

Smollett just got in front of a microphone and said that he has "been truthful and consistent from day one".

The thing is, everyone knows that it was a hoax and he was lying then and he is lying now. Somewhere out there, there is a pepperoni pizza that thinks he is innocent.

The prosecutors know that enough information and evidence has already been presented and leaked that Smollett is essentially doomed and will be a walking zombie for the rest of his days. His punishment is that he is known to be toxic and a great public relations risk to anyone who hires him. He will only make it worse for himself because he will continue to lie instead of apologizing for creating the big stupid hoax.

The world will get to watch a dead man walking.

LOL

I set the Over/Under on Jussie being a regular CNN contributor at 12 months.

So this Jussie Smolette guy, is he the first American to ever scam a couple of Nigerians ? If he isn't well, then there's no point in his beating himself up over it.

I'll get my coat.

Ohh look it lives.

How about the black guys in the CPD and the two black brothers?

Better not believe those guys right?

How racist.

Before I nominate this post, I want to ask: Does ISF have "Poe" nomination ?

Yeah cause white guys have never been involved in corruption.

Would love to see some stats, pretty sure the pale side would win in a landslide.
