He's sounds quite reasonable until white supremacists ask for his backing. If that's the case, it would seem entirely accidental, in the sense that I don't think Peterson is a white supremacist in any way.
Various journalists that focuses on the extreme right wing.
If anyone's interested in discussing Jordan Peterson, make a thread.
Could you be a bit more specific? After all, I really want to see how the claims of these various journalists and researchers stack up. I think in the wake of these attacks there have been some examples of political opportunism, and casually daubing the blood of the victims of the Al Noor Mosque on people you don't like is a pretty grotesque form of that.
And for the record, I don't particularly like Jordan Peterson. I find him to be an intellectual charlatan who, like many intellectual charlatans such as L.Ron Hubbard and Deepak Chopra, have a devoted fanbase, and I am pretty sure that they are not all, or even most of them, joining white supremacist gangs or plotting murders. If there was any evidence that Jordan Peterson's books are ending up as the inspiration for white supremacists then that would be one thing, but for now it just seems to be an oddly post-modern form of Christian apologetics.
Oh, and can we move the New Zealand gun conversations to the New Zealand gun thread, please? It's pretty much the same old semantic debates about what constitutes "assault weapons" that some people who are fascinated by them can indulge in there, and avoid boring the rest of us...

It looks like some more websites are in need of blocking.
Newspapers help to radicalise far right, says UK anti-terror chief
Just heard a gentleman on BBC representing NZ rural hunters, he wants them banned too.I predicted the new laws, but the guns haven't been turned in yet.
I wonder if we will see acceptance or some attempt to hold on to rights?
We've already seen nose-thumbing at bans in the USA, so I'm pretty sure that merely declaring a new law won't work here.
Neil Basu seems to know what's up. I'm glad someone in a position of power does.
And to think that I made that argument just upthread and was scoffed at. SCOFFED AT ! in all caps, just like that then, lo and behold, along comes Mr. Neil basu, someone who does this for a living, to prove me right.
In light of this I suggest any AUS/NZ ISPs that refuse to block the named sites might just be harbouring alt-right sympathies.
Only yesterday I propheticized book burnings and what happens ? Jordan Peterson on the chopping block.
So you were wrong about the book burnings, is that what you're saying?
Au countraire my good xir, au contraire. The highly progressive bookseller Whitcoulls has decided that New Zealanders need to be protected from the anti-progressive ideas of he-who-shall-no-longer-be-named and are doing their part to remove him from their culture.
It matters not whether those "books" are converted to ashes and smoke or left to rot in an underground storage vault, the effect is the same.
I wish to purchase Quotations from Chairman Mao Tse-Tung from them but I'm going to refrain because having it shipped internationally will contribute to climate change and probably result in the downing of a baby polar bear.
Now if only Youtube would follow Whitcoulls' outstanding social leadership and self censor the alt-right associated commentator PewDiePie from their site.
The Twitter machine tells me that many NZ women are wearing headscarfs. Is this true ?
