Anti-Muslim Terrorist Attack in... NZ?

No, lots of blood and close high definition jerking of bodies as bullets rip through. Sad faces including children look right at the shooter and then are extinguished.

It isn't anything like any war documentary.

If people were able to see non-sanitized films of these events maybe there would be less support for the events themselves. If there are none, there should be war documentaries that leave nothing to the imagination.

There are tens of thousands of eyewitness videos online which are much more gory and violent compared to this one. None are anything like any war documentary.

But this is the first time I can recall such a large effort to eradicate a gory video and prosecute those who possess it. I don't know if it will set a new precedent for the civilized world.

Public access to such videos could have the opposite effect on ultraviolent people. I could imagine people like Tarrant being inspired instead of turned-off. It would completely turn-off people who would never do that kind of thing anyway.

There has just got to be a huge chasm between the minds of people like Tarrant and Breivik and Paddock and the whole rest of the world. Watching videos like this is not going to make those people be more like us. Not watching the video doesn't make them like us either.

I am really disturbed how many people seem willing to send Freedom of Speech to the curb.

In case you hadn't caught on after all these years, free speech doesn't exist.

As has been said many times, if you don't believe that, try shouting "fire" in a crowded cinema.

The "free speech" myth is used by purveyors of child porn, ultra-violent videos and hate speech and those who support them.

I'd agree that suppressing opposing or unpleasant views isn't on, but the world can live quite happily without the three things noted above.

Now the tragedy takes out other New Zealand families and their providers. This is quite appalling as summary firings become rampant.

"Founder Steve Byrne says many companies had three to five employees who'd looked up the video at work.

He says their colleagues are surprised and upset to find out their workers were watching such a horrific video on the job.

Byrne says at least one person has been fired for watching the video while other employees were around - while others have been let go for sharing it with workmates."

In the interest of being informed

I was just given a hard-copy of the manifesto.

I will not view the video, but I'd like a look into whatever snakes are in this thing's (I won't grant them the dignity of using the name) head.

So no guts and brains then, that was just in there for ? Whatever, I guess.

People being shot and killed, blood, sure sounds like war. Really it does. Maybe we need some uniforms or something.

Had the New Zealand government gone with something like viewing/distributing terrorist material then we wouldn't have be having this discussion but they just had to go with the really broad all encompassing definition of an objectionable publication.

Ok, provide the demonstration.

Skeptic Ginger pointed out above that Al Jazeera does not censor this type of material in its reports.

So, have violent terrorist attacks waned in countries where Al Jazeera is available?

There could be visible guts and brains if a person studied the piles of bodies or the individuals here and there.

I mentioned those things because this video is from a genre which is not like any war documentary. There are many thousands of these on the web with blood, guts, brains, ejected fetuses or whatever revolting gore you could imagine. Gore that you will never see in a war documentary.

I don't.

1. It documents the commission of a crime (like child porn)
2. It actively promotes and attempts to incite more of the crime it documents (like child porn)
3. It necessarily exploits its subject(s) (like child porn)
4. The video is intended to titillate, and serves a prurient interest (in gore, in white supremacist violence) (like child porn)
5. The video serves no useful educational purpose (like child porn)

That's not an attempt at legalese; that's just explaining how the video is indeed quite analogous to child porn in my own words.

1. A surveillance video of, say a store robbery, does the same thing.
2. The same could be said of a news report
3. I don't even know what this means
4. You figure people are fapping to this ? Jeez, I never thought that Saving Private Ryan needed a XXX rating.
5. Are you suggesting we just take the word of a journalist who's watched the video and not do our own research ? , Not a New Zealand journalist of course because one of those would be looking at 10 years for admitting to watching this video in the first place.

I did find from viewing the video that there are a number of Al Noor mosque witnesses who are wrong or are lying. There are false martyrs being praised right now.

Because the video isn't being viewed nobody can really debunk the bunk.

War documentaries generally do not show gore - like actual blood, guts and brains.

There's this:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Africa_Addio

Prior to the film's release, allegations that a scene depicting the execution of a Congolese Simba Rebel had been staged for the camera resulted in co-director Gualtiero Jacopetti's arrest on charges of murder. The film's footage was seized by police, and the editing process was halted during the legal proceedings. He was acquitted after he and co-director Franco Prosperi produced documents proving they had arrived at the scene just before the execution took place.[2][3]

I've seen it years back. The brutality to humans and animals is graphic and real.

There's also this - NSFW - reporting on the Rhodesian bush war. Graphic violence exactly as you describe:
