There is evidence of contact between Russians and the 2016 Trump campaign and that has been admitted to by campaign staff. Some of Trump's people involved have been convicted of lying under oath. This is the problem for Donnie in determining -- is he guilty of colluding with Russian elements to try and discredit his opponent in the 2016 election -- because the vast majority of Americans just do not consider him to be an honest man.

Only thirteen percent of Americans said they would consider President Trump to be honest and trustworthy, according to a new Survey Monkey tracking poll. Link

This is not a new poll, it was carried out between Feb. 1, 2017, and May 9, 2018, and surveyed 929,225 adults. That's a pretty good sampling size. Yes, you need evidence to convict someone, but you are entitled to investigate when you have "reasonable" suspicion. That's Donnie's dilemma. Most Americans wouldn't put anything past him! ;)

Indeed, remember that he publicly asked for Russian help

Not a fan of presumption of innocence, due process, or the fact that elections mean something?

Hoo boy....
So you are against Trump getting his money for the wall then TBD? After all the Dems took control of the House of Representatives in a landslide, and elections mean something!

I find it "not so funny" when TBD suggests that the election was fair or that actual due process regarding Trump has been taken place.

DOES ANYONE believe that Trump hasn't committed multiple counts of obstruction or that at the least his campaign and relatives were seeking and receiving help from the Russians? Trump asks for help from Russia on National television. 100s of known contacts of Trump's inner circle with Russians and then lying to cover up those contacts. And then finally the nail in the coffin Trump's obsequious deference towards Putin when Trump doesn't portray respect or deference to anyone.

What I love about this list is that Manafort was angry that Gates didn't lie for him. He expected honor among thieves.

Yeah, the old "honor among thieves" meme is a fiction. Most of these scumbags would torch their own grandmother for a buck. The only reason they sometimes won't rat on their fellow scumbags is fear; fear of reprisal.

In Paul Manafort's case, lying to Mueller's investigators when he must know that they are likely to catch him at it can realistically mean only one of two things...

1. He's totally stupid
2. He's terrified that he or his family could be assassinated.

IMO, there is a real possibility that he's been threatened by the Russians. If they can get to Alexander Litvinenko, Sergei Skripal and his daughter Yulia, they can get to Manafort and his family too.

I sure got the impression that your comments were based on Schiff's open letter. Let's see why.

Ah. Here's the first point. Your prediction about the report seems to be based on the letter in this post. No other comments are mentioned. And then there's this response to Varwoche.

Now you claim that the "nothingburger" comment wasn't based on Schiff's letter? Okay, whatever. It was based on other comments by Schiff, none of which you refer to and hence we cannot guess what prompted this prediction.

That's some fine prognosticatin' there, coupled with an unassailable assessment of the evidence. All mighty impressed, I can tell you.

ETA: Just to be clear, preparing to open an investigation in the House on the Trump/Russian issue doesn't indicate that Schiff expects the Mueller report to be a dud. If the Mueller report is a blockbuster, then the House committee will review its contents and evidence. If it's a dud, they may think that Mueller left some stones unturned. That Schiff is planning a House committee investigation (and I'll take your word for this, as I haven't paid close attention) is pretty damned poor evidence of Schiff's expectations regarding the Mueller report.

But, of course, you clearly were claiming that the open letter was evidence of low expectations, regardless of your backtrack here.
Which is why you lean to not respond to tbd. It's just a game of 'gotcha' where tbd makes the rules as he goes.

I always thought the saying "honor among thieves" was never said as a truism, but as irony or an oxymoron. You just have to find it a bit amusing that Manafort was livid that Gates was skimming from the money that Manafort was stealing from his clients.

I see that Mueller sent an 800 page sentencing memo today for Manafort. In it, the prosecution said that Manafort deceived and cheated almost everyone he came in contact with. And while the memo didn't recommend a specific sentence, it did say that Manafort commited many aggravating factors and no mitigating factors. Which basically means he deserves a sentence more on the less lenient side of the scale.

Question. Would you buy a used/preowned vehicle from contestant A or contestant B?

Sigh...

Senate does investigation, finds no collusion
Schiff is gearing up to do an investigation,
Schiff writes an editorial about the Russia investigation and claims that his republican colleagues totally agree with him in private and should come out and support his investigation, which would be totally unnecessary if Mueller found evidence of collusion, which know he has not yet done

Sigh - a few corrections and comments

Republican dominated and controlled Senate Intelligence Committee does investigation, finds no collusion. (well forgive me if that colours me surprised)

Schiff is gearing up to do an investigation make sure Mueller's report doesn't get disappeared.

Schiff writes an editorial about the Russia investigation and claims that his Republican colleagues totally agree with him in private and should come out and support his investigation..... (which they would if they weren't a bunch of gutless cowards).

...which would be totally unnecessary if Mueller found evidence of collusion, which know he has not yet done. (How can you claim Mueller has not yet found evidence of collusion when he hasn't told anyone whether he has not.)

It is clear that the SCO are playing their cards very close to their chests. They have indicted a number of people related to the Russia investigation, some of whom have pleaded, or have been found, guilty. In EVERY case, anything in the documentation for those indictments which might be directly related to investigation of the Trump campaign and its alleged potential ties to Russia, Russian Intelligence and Putin has been redacted. This means they don't want to let the cat out of the bag for concern that the perpetrators will know exactly what they have, and will be able to collude to get their stories straight.

IMO, Mueller is keeping how powder dry.

Contestant B would grab my kittykat whilst showing me the shiny metal parts under the hood.

.... so I could (at the very least) get some sense of tingly satisfaction before driving off in my greatest, the best, brand spanking new 1958 Ford Edsel.

If Mueller's report is imminent (I've heard that one before), and Don Jr. has not been charged with a crime, then things are not so bad for Papa Trump.
