NDA's do not apply in criminal investigations, period, and not even in some civil lawsuits.
According to my sister, who is a practicing attorney, the main thing NDA's do is give you an justification for firing somebody and terminating their contract if they break them. Other then that, they are fairly useless.

Their usefulness does depend a lot on what state you are in. They would not be at all useful for an employee of the White House, in any legal sense. This is simply an intimidation tool.

Trump just did a 180 on Syria..now some American troops will be staying.
So I guess ISIS is not quite as defeated as Trump thought?
IMHO the main thing about that decision was not if US Troops should be in Syria or not, but that Trump made the move without bothering to consult anybody in the State Department or the Pentagon,he just did it on his instincts and gut feeling, which he feels are always superior to "the experts".
It's the glorification of ignorance, and it always leads to disaster.

I wonder why Trump even bothers with such things anymore.

After all, considering the vast amount of inside data leakage from the Trump Administration that has been going on for well over two years now, then it is quite obvious that even if everyone in the entire world signed on to such non-disclosure agreements, then there would still be volumes (literally) of inside data leaking out about the Trump Administration.

I'd guess that frequent reminders of the NDAs are used to try stem the flow, at least: Get caught leaking and it might cost a lot more than your job. If they're found to be legally useless, hard to say what we'll hear about, huh. :eye-poppi

So they tell the teenagers “sign this agreement and we won’t give you a copy for yourselves.” They’re not even trying to look legitimate.

A competent administration would have vetted their cabinet members better.
A competent administration would have vetted their cabinet members period.

The whole concept is lost on President Trump. He believes that if his gut tells him that someone is right for the job, then that should be good enough for everybody - after all, he’s the boss.

And apparently the best way to convince his gut that you are the right person for the job is to look him in the eye and tell him he is the greatest president ever.

Remember, they are "the best people."

1. There is no statute of limitations on prosecutorial misconduct. Acosta can still be brought to book for this.

And I hope he is. Last I heard, the DOJ Inspector General wanted Congress to change the law so that he could investigate Acosta.

2. If you are arguing that Trump didn't know about this because it all happened years ago

No. I'm arguing that the fundamental problem here isn't Trump, though he hasn't acted as well as he should have.

So?

It was a bad decision back in 2007. (Even if you get past the whole "illegal dealings in secret" bit, you still had what is seen as an extremely lenient sentence given to someone who was involved in some pretty serious crimes.)

A competent administration would have vetted their cabinet members better. "Hey, why did you give a pedophile such a light sentence?" should have been the first question Acosta was asked.
I've seen a quote from Trump, from before Epstein's fall from grace, in which he refers to Epstein's party partners being "on the young side", so it seems Epstein's predilections were well known in those circles.

True, but the fact that Trump subsequently hired him knowing all of this is a bit troubling. "The best people" and all.

Surprisded that Donnie's 180 on Syria has sort of gone under the radar.

It is worse than a 180. the residual force is not large enough to be anything but a target. Keeping them there makes it less likely that Turkey will attack the Kurds. But the size of the force makes it vulnerable to an attack like what happened in 83 in Lebanon that led to Reagan cutting and running from a commitment to peace keeping.

Sec. Sonny Perdue
@SecretarySonny

BREAKING: In Oval Office meeting today, the Chinese committed to buy an additional 10 million metric tons of U.S. soybeans. Hats off to @POTUS for bringing China to the table. Strategy is working. Show of good faith by the Chinese. Also indications of more good news to come.

So, after years of the Chinese buying 36+ million tons now they “will buy 10” and that is “good negotiation”.
