I can't see how an extra would know where Jussie was at any given time, unless specifically told, or some other unusual circumstance.

By asking someone? Or following him? An extra might be lower on the totem pole but they would have more access to him than some random person. It explains a very unlikely encounter at 2AM in the morning.

Although it could be a good explanation for the rope and the unidentified fluid.
 
Ha, it appears that the cops have been slow walking this thing all along.

Couple of Jussie's buddies from Boystown took a ride share down to his hood, "beat" him up, and took the rideshare back.

Oh what joy there will be if that proves true.

.@Chicago_Police are still not calling the 2 people they’re questioning about #JussieSmollett suspects. #CPD says 1 was an extra on #Empire and the other was that mans friend and both are the ones seen on surveillance pic. #Smollett told #GMA men on that video were his attackers.

If there's one thing I've learned from reading crime fiction, it's that a good detective knows when to sit back and let the suspect do their legwork for them.

Investigators already received Smollett's complete phone records via a subpoena served on his service provider, according to a source close quoted by CWBChicago on Feb. 4.

A source familiar with the records provided by the Empire star states that Smollett downloaded his phone activity into a spreadsheet and then deleted certain phone calls before handing over the records. “He did the [detectives’] job for them because then they only had to focus on the numbers he deleted.”

If it was staged, as opposed to fabricated, we can add 'astonishingly stupid' to Smollett's list of character flaws.

If this is true it suggests that Smollett was on the phone with the attacker(s) and didn't want the police to know about that. Smollett also didn't want to contact police but Condo Guy insisted.

Well, maybe Smollett arranged to have these guys beat him up and then he would go to Condo Guy looking like a mess and tell the story to Condo Guy but not to police. Back again to my theory that only Condo Guy was supposed to know about the attack and nobody else.

I'm not very fond of any theory right now. Pieces are okay but I can't create a Big Picture.

I'm willing to forgive stupidity in an actor. Say what you will about some of the professionals, I have a lot of respect for the profession, and for the people with the will and talent to succeed in that profession.

Ooh. New theory: Smollett wanted to get into Condo Guy's pants, and figured a personal tragedy would be just the thing to spark some sympathy, some comforting, some one-thing-leads-to-another... And calling the cops was just Condo Guy's way of swiping left on the whole scheme.

Dude - he's just not into you.
