Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

Mom was watching Fox this week which had wall-to-wall Bush coverage, and I wondered how Trump took that ... if he was resentful that it took the focus off him for 48 hours.

I imagine him wondering how to get people to talk about him like that while he's still alive. If he is able to consider himself mortal at all.

They're going to have to bury Trump in an unmarked grave to keep the vandals away.

Was not just Fox. Except for a occasional news cast, CNN was broadcasting documentaries on Bush 41.

What I hope Trump walks away with from this funeral is that for him, the ritual will always be pro forma. No one I saw tonight was there for Bush's funeral who didn't want to be there. I suspect even the Annapolis Glee Club wanted to be there to farewell a Navy Hero. Republicans will come to Trump's funeral because it's expected. Democrat will come to avoid looking petty.

No Whitehouse Staffers will come on the news networks telling charming stories of Trump. We won't hear about a Whitehouse phone operator calling Trump's office every week to check on him after his presidency. The thing Trump most wants, to be accepted into the elite club of world leaders will be denied him even in death. There will be pomp. There will be circumstance. There will be observance of duty. There will never be love. I truly hope Trump walks away from this week knowing, in his final remembrance he will never have what Bush had.

I'm not sure I agree with the highlighted part with the possible exception of an ex President. If Democrats show up it will be to make sure he's dead. That or an open bar.

meanwhile following the instructions in the thread title:

click on the (perfectly safe) link embedded in this authentic link from Rudy Giuliani
I don't get this. How could it happen? Did someone hijack his account?
To understand how that happened, you have to realize some people are just amazingly stupid.

Linking to a web page is done by means of a URL (universal uniform resource locator). The URL is basically just an address (and is usually just a symbolic address). If the owner of a web site notices that some stupid person has linked to one of its web pages, the owner can easily embarrass the stupid person by changing the contents of that web page.

(And if the URL is a symbolic address, that creates a second level of indirection, allowing the owner of the web domain to redirect that symbolic address to point to a completely different web page; that second level of indirection is not needed to explain what happened here, however, and I mention it only to emphasize that Giuliani's tweet was doubly stupid.)

Maybe if he dies in office. Otherwise, those he is friendly with anyway might go to his service, but no one is going to hold it against them if they don't. IMO.

I still don't get it. Just forgetting to put a space after a period and then "in" makes it a link? No HTML code required?

Giuiliani's other tweets had spaces missing as well.

It's still up there BTW. He even retweeted his own tweet. Must like the hits ...

If they've finished their prison sentences.
I feel a little guilty about the momentary pleasure I got when contemplating Trump's funeral. I've never felt that way before.

A frisson, I would call it. It surprised me.

But still doesn't understand why they ARE hits.
Well, it's on Time magazine's website, among other places. You'd think he would have figured it out by now.

As I said, I still don't understand how you accidentally create a link. I thought you needed at least some coding.

Yes, that's correct. He omitted a space. His phone or whatever saw something.in, a valid url, and turned it into a link. Someone else saw that and purchased the url to put up that page.
ETA: He probably pocket-twittered the other one.

The (((Deep State))) claims another victim.

A sheriff’s sergeant in Broward County, Florida has been demoted after wearing a patch referring to the QAnon conspiracy theory in a picture with Vice President Mike Pence last week, according to multiple reports.

Linky.

If you put something in your Tweet that looks like a URL, Twitter assumes it is a URL. As for the HTML, Twitter automatically converts the content of your tweet into the HTML necessary to display that tweet within a browser.

This forum does it too. Type www .google.com and it'll link it: www.google.com, because it sees the www. and assumes it's a url. But since www. is becoming less common these days, Twitter just jumped the gun by assuming any valid tld (.com, .in, .etc) is probably a link.
