Cont: The Trump Presidency 11: Insert something funny

Lindsey Graham is not allowing the Kashoggi state-conducted murder and butchery to be swept under the rug, pushing back on the shifty Whitehouse move of keeping a CIA representive out of briefing.

Senator Lindsey Graham of South Carolina said Wednesday that he would not support a new government-funding bill or the confirmation of Republican judicial nominees until the CIA is allowed to brief lawmakers on the assassination of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

“I’m not going to blow past this. If that briefing is not given soon, it’s gonna be hard for me to vote for any spending bill,” Graham told reporters on Capitol Hill.

What say you resident Trump apologists?
I really don't get Graham.

Sometimes, he caves. Sometimes he grows a spine. My wife says that he was better when McCain was alive, when he had a leader. I think she's right.

But, in any case, good for him to find a spine on this issue. Honestly, totally decent.

I don't disagree with most of your post. But I'm still convinced that Trump is being blackmailed. That he sold out and the Saudis and Russia are extorting him.
It's also quite likely that isn't needed. He's clearly very susceptible to being manipulated, especially with competent leaders like Putin and the Saudi Prince.

Yeah, I think so too.

I even worry about removing Trump via legal means. On the one hand, he ought to be impeached and removed. I believe that.

On the other hand, such an effort will drive the divisions in our nation further. I don't want that.
To a certain respect, giving in to fear is what got the country to where it is, with Trump elected. At some point, you have to stop being afraid of maybes.

Fiat justitia ruat caelum.

Mom was listening to Tucker which was annoying. She now has on Hannity, which is ... time to get under headphones and watch Netflix, maybe. I also don't much like it when she has CNN or MSNBC on for hours. Her cognitive issues mean she can watch the same program over and over and the repetition drives me nuts.

He was clearly working for AG. Either he got rejected and the committee chair was a consolation prize, or he got the chair and gave up the pretense he put on for AG.

I see a lot of plain old hero worship. Blackmailed? Those people want him to remain in power, and compromised. They're not going to destroy him any time soon.

I don't know which is worse, actually. The thought that blackmail isn't necessary is pretty bad.

And now Laura Ingraham is talking about Jeremiah Wright, playing tape from 10 years ago, and trashing Obama. Seriously, is this all they've got?

Graham is in the pockets of the Saudis, just like Trump is.
Only difference: his Saudi is not the same as Trump's Saudi.

Just in case anyone believes this complete malarky:

That $3,874 figure has been floating around. It appears to stem from a Facebook post in 2017, showing documentation of an initial payment to new residents in a country. But the payment wasn’t to an undocumented immigrant, it was to a refugee who was participating in a resettlement program. Actually, to a family of five refugees.

And the payment wasn’t in the United States. It was in Canada.

Someone should tell Trump that.

Then he can tweet about all the federal assistance money we're giving to refugees in Canada.

Maybe he has a half conscience.

I've known sovereign-citizen types who believe in open immigration. It's a tenet of some Libertarian doctrine that people have a right to move freely and pursue their self-interest by competing for jobs that they can make a living from but many Americans can't. It's not as farfetched as it sounds, IMO.

Yes but the ties to white supremacy with his specific group are pretty tight. Like how fox news stopped supporting his dad, not when he was threatening federal agents with guns but when he started talking about his views on the blacks. A bit too openly racist even for fox news at least then.

Trump Tweets

General Motors is very counter to what other auto, and other, companies are doing. Big Steel is opening and renovating plants all over the country. Auto companies are pouring into the U.S., including BMW, which just announced a major new plant. The U.S.A. is booming!

I suspect spines will be stiffened relative to the apparent doom of Donald. The more likely he is to fall, the more Republicans will suddenly discover vertebrae, muscle and cartilage they didn't know they had.
