Trump's lack of self awareness is epic. Nobody can be that far gone.

I think he's really just the world's best ever troll.

Tough choice. Decades ago, he would call NYC newspapers and introduce himself as John Barron - a recent hire in the Trump Corp publicity department. Then he would gush over how amazing, friendly, and dashing Donald Trump was. He’d claim that the most beautiful women were attracted to Mr. Trump.

One of his ghost writers witnessed a call. Trump wasn’t ashamed of what he was doing. The writer called the newspaper later and discovered that the people he called were all aware that they were talking to Trump, but they didn’t want to call him out on it because they didn’t want to get on his bad side.

So my answer to the question of troll or least self-aware person in the country is to say false dichotomy. I say 20% troll and 80% chronic, incurable narcissistic personality disorder.

This touches on one of the less emphasized reasons that a lot of people don't like ICE as it is. ICE has wrongfully detained at least 1500 Americans.

Why do I say more than 1500, one might ask? Stories like the one you cited, The Animus. Here's one regarding a disabled person, for example.

Several more cases are mentioned in this article and this article, too.

And, of course, the kicker here is that When the government wrongly deports people, coming back to the US is almost impossible.

That was the basic plot of the 1987 Cheech Marin movie "Born in East LA". We've out poe'd all poes when we start actually enacting a Cheech Marin movie.

Interesting how these guys have all this spare time. None of them work? Is their income source the government dole?

Seems to me that there are only two reasons for them to go:
1. They have no confidence in the US military to do the job.
2. They see an opportunity to shoot some brown people.

Question: If these brainless wonders stand on the US side of the border and shoot people on the Mexican side what laws apply?

There's a third choice: it makes them feel like big, strong manly men toting their guns around. It's a form of gorilla chest beating.

I saw a cartoon once, can't remember who it was-:

"I voted for George W. Bush because he was the son of President George Bush,
I voted for George Bush because he was Vice President to President Ronald Reagan,
I voted for Ronald Reagan because he was a successful movie actor who played cowboys.

I like Cowboys"
This may at first be thought of as a joke, but it's really very accurate in describing how the majority decide who to vote for. Encouraged quite a bit of course by the corporate propagandists.

Also the world's most successful con-man. Tricking people into voting you into office as president must be, well, unpresidented.
He never tricked anyone. No one is fooled. The actual people in power have finally decided to simply install an idiot who they have total control over and who has the side-benefit of a) not knowing it and b) has a large following of people from earlier TV days who can lend a façade of genuine support.

With arrival of 4th caravan, there are now 12,000 migrants in Mexico

When they arrived on the Mexican side of the river, some 100 immigration officials and Federal Police tried to convince the migrants to cross back to Guatemala, warning them that they were breaking the law.

“We only want a clear passage, our intention is not to stay in Mexico but to go to the United States," the migrants responded.

It appears that question is not entirely settled.

All cases I could find (with a brief search) involved U.S. Border Patrol agents. Because they are acting on behalf of the federal government, those cases get mired in all kinds of issues that would not apply to a civilian. One border agent who shot someone across the border who was throwing rocks was charged and tried for murder. He was acquitted by a jury. The 5th circuit court ruled that border agents are immune from civil ligation. The 9th circuit made the same ruling in a more recent case, but it went to the Supreme Court last year and was sent back for reconsideration and the lower court then found that the agent could be sued.

Because a border agent can face criminal and civil charges and there are less protections for a civilian, I would expect the same would be true for civilians. However, it's hard to say what arguments may arise. The law that would apply depends on the specific circumstances. They could face state charges. If they are on federal land, it would be under federal jurisdiction. Of course, that raises the issue of whether the state or federal government would follow through on prosecution. It is possible they could be charged in Mexico, but I don't know how the U.S. would handle that. It appears the shooter could face a lawsuit in the U.S.

Was reminded of this Steve Earle lyric - different place, Jerusalem, but still...

But I believe there'll come a day when the lion and the lamb
Will lie down in peace together in Jerusalem.

And there'll be no barricades then
There'll be no wire or walls
And we can wash all this blood from our hands
And all this hatred from our souls.

And I believe that on that day all the children of Abraham
Will lay down their swords forever in Jerusalem.

It’s hard for me to think of anything uglier than barbed wire.

I'm glad I can't see beauty in barbed-wire. I'd find life in a mind that can not worth living.

There is an episode of Hogan's Heroes where Carter is pretending to be Hitler, and one of the things he says is, "I love barbed wire."

That's what this makes me think of...Carter impersonating Hitler on Hogan's Heroes

It’s hard for me to think of anything uglier than barbed wire.
It conjures up the Western Front and concentration camps, not to mention the rather ugly history of barbed-wire in US history. A very divisive innovation back in the day.

Remember when Republicans were calling Obama supporters a cult?

Donald Trump keeps claiming that construction on his promised “great wall” is well underway although not a single yard of it has been built, and his supporters are getting mad ― not at the president, but at those who point out his lie.

“I don’t care. He has done more than any Republican or Democrat,” said Pete Sandifer, a 58-year-old military retiree who with his wife drove two and a half hours from Hattiesburg, Mississippi, to attend Trump’s rally in the far western Florida Panhandle.

Sharon Sandifer, 43, disputed that Trump has been unable to secure any funding for his wall along the U.S.-Mexico border from any source ― a fact easily proven in the spending legislation that Trump himself has signed.

“Excuse me,” she told HuffPost a short while before Trump arrived at Pensacola International Airport for a Saturday evening rally. “But it’s your word against his.”

Robert Robertson, in line to clear security and enter the massive hangar where Trump was to speak, was not interested in hearing about Trump’s falsehoods about the wall ― or anything else, for that matter.

“All politicians are liars. They’re all weasels,” said the 60-year-old from Panama City. “You know why he’s so good? Because he’s up there breaking all the furniture. If he wanted to shoot somebody on Broadway, I’d vote ‘not guilty.’”

Linky.

Needs landmines. Barbed wire and landmines. They go together like peaches and cream. And machine guns. Barbed wire, landmines and machine guns. What a beautiful sight. Border crossing attempts could be broadcast on state TV Fox News. It would rate through the roof.

Yes, much more beautiful than chain link cages:
