Of course

Because it's failed

The implication, along with the prior cancelling of a grant to combat white supremacist terror, is that the issue isn't the efficacy of the programme, but who it targets. How much stock can be put in that implication I don't know.

Trump now saying he will send 15,000 troops to stop the dwindling caravan.

Because he thinks US soldiers are so useless that unless the have a 5:1 advantage they would get beaten up by a group of tired men, women and children.

I know this is a (much less pressing) secondary issue but this sort of sucks for the troops as well.

Getting sent into a situation with no clear... point or purpose or ROE is not a fun place to be.

It's an excellent way to destroy morale, faith in higher command, and in the overall institution.

And, it certainly doesn't help that when things go pear shaped and some poor private who may or may not have graduated high school on is going to be the one trying to interpret whether the President's last tweet of "Stop them by any means necessary! I'll pay the legal bills." overrides the ROE that say "Use of deadly force is authorized for self defence, defence of other service personnel and US civilians" and if a three round burst into what is likely a crowd of women and children at a (closed) port of entry is going to result in a court martial, medals parade, and/or the need for intensive psychological counselling that will not be provided because VA funding has been cut on a cold, dark evening.

I wonder whether the gains in Republican votes from those who approve of sending the army to the boarder because a group of refugees may get there in a month and a half will be greater or smaller than the loss in Republican votes from those in the army or associated with people in the army who disapprove of it?

Americans want no crime, no chaos, and no caravans.

-- President Donald J. Trump (Oct 31, 2018)

"I’m just so saddened by this thing happening to our country. It’s making me fat. I hear what he said now, and I have to go eat pancakes, and pancakes are very fattening. I’ve been thinking about, do I want to move to Canada? I don’t know."

-- Barbra Streisand (Oct 31, 2018)

Now that's the type of caravan I can fully support -- libtards migrating to Canada.

Another vote for one party rule. Awesome.

I agree with Squeegee. But then again, Hitler didn't become Hitler overnight. Even so, the Hitler comparison is instructive not so much that the US will become a world wide genocidal menace, but that it could devolve into a dictatorship of a kind.

Trump has been running the universal master class that was taught by Goebbels and Hitler. The use of the lie. Goebbels actually spoke how important lying and deception is to the process. Also, the attacks on the press are an echo of the early 30s.
Yes, they learned a lot from the experience of the US before and during (especially) WWI and applied those lessons for themselves to great effect. The US, proud originators of such great propagandists, have continued the tradition up to this day.
