I do enjoy the Schadenfreude the GOP being exposed to their own tactics.

Tailgating is usually associated with the drinking, barbecuing, and revelry before a sports game.

Because after all, you want people to approach public policy considerations the same way they pick what team to be loyal to...

If pick up trucks are not popular in your country, a tail gate is the part of the bed that flips down in the back.
 
A “tailgate” is a party held in the parking lot before a sporting event, like a football (American sense) or baseball game. The name derives from dropping the tailgate of ones pickup and serving food, beer, etc. from there. Grilling is often involved. Informal and fun, but some people are pretty elaborate with their setups.

The Toyota Center in Houston doesn’t hold anything like 100,000 people, as has already been pointed out. The claim that it’s being used, or its parking lot is being used, for that many people is ridiculous. Of course, one should remember that Trump’s very first act as a presidential candidate involved a lie, as many of the people standing and applauding as he rode down the escalator to announce his candidacy were paid actors.
